About this listen

Persephone's relationship with Hades has gone public, and the resulting media storm disrupts her normal life and threatens to expose her as the Goddess of Spring.

Hades, God of the Dead, is burdened by a hellish past that everyone's eager to expose in an effort to warn Persephone away.

Things only get worse when a horrible tragedy leaves Persephone's heart in ruin and Hades refusing to help. Desperate, she takes matters into her own hands, striking bargains with severe consequences.

Faced with a side of Hades she never knew and crushing loss, Persephone wonders if she can truly become Hades' queen.

A fun escape buuut

Okay so I usually don’t like to be negative with my reviews, there are elements in this book that I enjoyed, and I loved the first book. But…Persephone was just a little bit annoying in this book. Gah! I don’t want to be mean but she would just jump the gun and get mad at everything and the typical “lack of communication” trope came in to play a lot. But I guess main characters aren’t always meant to be perfect and they have to be flawed. I still enjoyed this book but I was getting a little frustrated at times. With that being said though, I’m eagerly awaiting the next books release!

Not as good as book 1

I enjoyed the first book so i was excited to read this one, but so many points I found myself wanting to throttle Persephone. I usually enjoy strong willed female characters, but she acted completely petulantly throughout most of this book.
She ignores the wishes of her friends purely because she wants to do something. Like, I understand doing what you think is right but she really needs to think about how it might affect other people before doing it!
She gets stupidly angry at Hades for having had lovers before her which is really unfair, when he’s millions of years old and she’s a child. And then also gets angry at him for “keeping secrets” that don’t really have anything to do with her, when she also keeps secrets, but hers directly affect him!
I also understand wanting to be strong and independent, especially as a young girl who has been controlled a lot of her life, but she doesn’t seem to understand that accepting help is not the same as running and hiding. I’ll give her a bit of a break on that one because of how she grew up, it probably wouldn’t come naturally to her, but she could at least consider help.
She seems to take a whole step back from book one to this one.
Also, there was a bit at the end that seemed to be tacked on randomly just cuz? Like, it added nothing in my opinion. Maybe it’ll be expanded on in the next book but it really, really didn’t need to be added in, it began and then was over so quickly. If given more chance it could’ve been a very interesting part to the story but unfortunately it fell flat.
Random nitpick but is Anthony a Cyclops or an Ogre??

Perfection

Smut fantasy realness. Love the take on modern day gods and goddesses living in a human realm and their romantic/platomic relationships with each other, hooked on this series and cudos to the performance by the reader, had me drawn in from the start.

Not as enjoyable as previous book.

I found myself disliking Persephone. I look forward to Hades perspective.

Found myself skipping between reading and listening.

Skip the first half of the book!

Loved the previous book and I also read the Hades version, but the first half of this book was honestly insufferable. I almost stopped reading multiple times even though I felt so invested in the series. Persephone completely changes and acts childish and bipolar, I think the author was trying to portray Persephone powers taking control of her but this was just annoying to read and I was getting annoyed by her character and it came completely out of nowhere because this book continues straight from where it ended in the first book… It got better by the end of it and end on a good insight for the next book.

Meh, I totally agree with some of the other review

I really loved the first book, so wasn't really put off by the poor reviews. I didn't feel as strongly as some, and think its good enough to past time on a commute, but the plot was a bit disappointing. Persephone does seem to go running to Hecate every other chapter, and she is a little intolerable (but not enough to make me stop listening).

One of the main plot lines took me by surprise. It just felt so random and I feel it will ruin the third book...if you listen you will get what I'm talking about.

One thing I did love was Hermes, his character is fantastic and really shines in this book.

One bug bear, and I don't know where the blame lies, but the driver Anthony changes between a cyclops and ogre in every other chapter. Its just annoying that this detail wasn't picked up. There were a few other little mistakes as well.

Overall I liked it enough that I will look forward to the final book.

Ends abruptly

The book ends "in the middle of" the story. Too abruptly. Too extreme for me considering the next book is coming out in over a year.
