What made the experience of listening to A Symphony of Echoes the most enjoyable?

Unlike many other female narrators Zara Ramm is excellent. Her voice has an element of Bridget Jones diary but the story line is darker. Brilliant combination . I suspect if you liked the first book, you will love this sequel..if you haven't listened to it then give it a go. If you love history and sci fi this is the book for you

Fantasy/Drama/Humour/History. This has it all!

Bizarrely, (I am from the UK), I heard about this series off a friend in the USA, even though it is a British author and novel.

I wasn't disappointed by the recommendation. This has everything, fantasy, drama, humour all wrapped around history. That just about ticks all my boxes of things that I enjoy in a book.

If you're not too keen on history you might find the passages that deal with important historical periods a bit overbearing. However, give it a try because that aside, the drama, fantasy and humour shines through. Personally I love history, and that love stems from our mother who was a font of knowledge when it came to all things history. It brought up many happy memories, a job well done.

The narrator also does a really good job, and it was a pleasure to listen through to the end.

If you're a fan of works from authors such as Terry Pratchett or Neil Gaiman then this should appeal. Although not quite the same in the sense that you don't have the fantasy animals or people, (this is based on time-travel for its fantasy), it is still well written.

I enjoyed the first book so much I immediately downloaded the second book in the series, and although the third book isn't available from Audible, I did download that to my Kindle to read. I hope the third book is added to the Audible catalog soon, because these are a series of books that work *really* well as audio books. In fact, they worked so well I didn't sleep until I had listened to both books back to back. I was slightly knackered by the end, but a very happy knackered.

Loved it again!

Well this is number two in the series and in my opinion is as equally good as that of the first. Again narrated by Zara Ramm delivering a well paced entertaining continuation of the characters and story begun in "Just One Damned Thing After Another"

Yes I'm a fan and will be going on to book three sometime in the not too distant future.

The actual incidents in history that the characters collide with are action packed and at times funny, amusing, and with quite a few O.M.G. moments that Zara faultlessly reads with punch, enthusiasm, and a tempo in line with the story. The characters that Jodi has created are all distinct in the way they are presented and I am sure that Jodi Taylor is delighted with the way that Zara has presented and consistently delivered the characterisations as they continue to develop and unfold.

Jodi Taylor has a talent for creating the atmosphere that the history and events demand although I was a little disappointed that in this book one of the main murderous characters of the nineteenth century is created as what can only be described as an alien fantastical creature, which for me the story could have done without, keeping things human would have worked better for me as these books focus strongly on the human condition, and the events that are shaped by them. I do appreciate that this is Sci-Fi with the emphasis on the fiction and that to enable this the authors imagination needs to run riot, but in this case it for me was a riot too far. That said it didn't destroy the book for me I just wished she had left Jack as what he probably was a Psychotic serial killer!

I did enjoy as a male reader the occasional "Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned" moments that the main character has, and thought it was good to understand that she was not superwoman, and experienced all of the weaknesses and emotional instability that we all face from time to time, and as such are weaved expertly into the story in their rightful place.

Overall a terrific read and listen worth the time, the money, and the effort, in what is a light hearted sci-fi experience that romps along like there is no tomorrow!

Good time hopping fun!

Really easy listen and quite addictive. The story almost goes too fast - how much can you pack into one book. Very much in the style of the first. I'm not quite sure if I love it but I have loved listening to it. Zara Ramm narrates well. Recommended for some light hearted time travelling fantasy fun

how embarrassing

This rotten book made me cry on a full commuter train this morning.

How embarrassing!

But still I loved it. I'm off to buy the next now.

I'm loving the time travel, the interplay between the characters but not when it makes me cry. At least I wasn't sat at my desk, I can avoid that train for a while :)

This is the second book in the series that I have listened to and I love it! It's so different to other books I have listened to, there is adventure, romance, comedy, history and time travel. So many different events happen in this book that I am exhausted after I have finished the book. I will be listening to the next book in the series.

Simply Brilliant

Wonderful series. The stories are gripping and the characters are wonderfully developed. Zara Ramm's narration is perfect. Do start at the beginning of the series so you don't miss anything. You will laugh and cry.

I really like the st Mary's stories. Zara Ramm brings the characters to life as they rocket from disaster to disaster.

Not sure of sticking with series

Really liked the narrator though. Story didn't hold my attention. Found myself wandering. Already have book 3 so will give it a chance before deciding to continue or not with series.
