Summary

"Gritty Historical fiction that never disappoints," (Northern Fiction Review)

Powerful characters and a story line that boils over with energy make this series an experience not to be missed. Narrator Nathaniel Williams incredible use of voice and timing allows him to present a wide and vivid cast of characters and bring to life the fortunes of these two complex brothers.

Richard and Jack finally return from Europe to a troubled England. Will they manage to complete the task they have been set, and release Lizbet and the rest of the men from their Island jail? Will they beat Andrew Kineer back to England, or will he arrive before them and succeed in striking his own deal with the Knights of St John? Mary is still on the throne, although her state of health is of increasing concern to those around her. Philip, armed with much of England's wealth has left her to continue with the war against France. Catherine is still trapped in Elizabeth's household, and has come to recognise that her own survival is now tied to that of her mistress. William Fitzwarren finds himself in the middle of a ugly battle between his sons, after disinheriting Robert he finds himself prey to his son's bitter temper and can only hope for help.

My favourite of the series so far

Have listened to this full series and this was my favourite book. Tension is built well and has had me extending my sleep timer a lot! Hopefully next book is realised on audible soon.

Another good listen in an excellent series

A proper romp through the period. Lots of mad adventures, well written and narrated. I look forward to the next one!

Abysmal Narrator.

Constant pronunciation errors and americanised pronunciations. A grating and odd character voice, sounding like an Orc from The Lord of The Rings films, is beyond ridiculous. No.
