“Tender and healing... I’m prescribing a preorder to anyone who has ever felt lost. Stunning, kind, necessary.” —Sarah Gailey on book 1: A Psalm for the Wild-Built
"This hopeful listen, full of humor, illuminates a world listeners will yearn to return to." -AudioFile on A Prayer for the Crown-Shy
A Prayer for the Crown-Shy is a story of kindness and love from one of the foremost practitioners of hopeful SF.
After touring the rural areas of Panga, Sibling Dex (a Tea Monk of some renown) and Mosscap (a robot sent on a quest to determine what humanity really needs) turn their attention to the villages and cities of the little moon they call home.
They hope to find the answers they seek, while making new friends, learning new concepts, and experiencing the entropic nature of the universe.
Becky Chambers's new series continues to ask: in a world where people have what they want, does having more even matter?

A Goodreads Most Anticipated Summer Read!
A Top Ten LibraryReads Selection!
“[A] lightly drawn but profound meditation on belief, entropy, and the nature of need and want that once again demonstrates Chambers’s prowess as both a storyteller and a thinker. Quiet and contemplative, empathic and warmhearted, this masterful sequel builds on the themes of the first volume to posit a more sustainable, more caring way of life. It’s both truly comforting and endlessly thought-provoking. ” —Publishers Weekly, starred review
“Thoughtful, with a gentleness that is as encompassing as any action-filled work.” —Library Journal, starred review “[A] hopeful glimpse at what our future might look like.” —Booklist
“As charming and heartwarming as the first.” —Buzzfeed

Another Magical, Beautiful, Thoughtful Tale
Dex and Mosscap return setting off on their adventure among humans so the robot can ask its question, while they both search for awnsers and meaning.
Another beautiful meditation on what it means to be human that seeks to uncover to uncover purpose and meaning, along the way examining the if our bodies are our selves, community, technology and nature, and whether we need questions and/ or answers, and how we know if the questions we ask are the right ones.
Chamber's writing is magical, weaving a deep and meaningful tapestry around a wholesome, yet not perfect, journey of two unlikely friends who feel lost in a complicated and confusing world. Through their conversations, interactions with others p their travels, and reflections and experiences of nature they wander ever closer to understanding and acceptance.
I simply adore these books and the narration by Em Grosland continues to voice them perfectly.

Lovely
Really enjoyed this story! Seemingly simple, it explores quite complex philosophical ideas and makes you think. I love the friendship between Dex and Mosscap, and look forward to more from Becky Chambers.

A wonderful clever balm for the soul
Loved this monk and robot series and the depth of writing about their relationship and what it means to be human. A vision of a potential future beyond the Great Turning.

This book is a balm for the soul
loved it, peaceful relaxing but thought provoking.
Annoyingly short but absolutely worth it don't buy if you looking for adventure and drama but if you're looking for a peaceful listen that questions the human condition this is a good pick
