About this listen
Love can come softly, like holiday snow. Or sweep you away like a riptide.
World-class surfer Krystal Walters would have appreciated the beauty of her surroundings - a quaint cottage in a fragrant Portuguese olive grove - if a wipeout hadn't changed all her holiday plans.
Now, suffering the dizzying aftereffects of multiple concussions, she's determined to make it home to Rhode Island for Christmas, even if she has to defy doctor's orders. Except those orders are being enforced by Adolfo Silva. A man as arrogant as he is ruggedly handsome.
Spending every waking moment working to make the family olive farm a success, Adolfo barely has time to savor a traditional Feliz Natal. But the moment Krystal disappears under a mountain of sea water, his focus shifts to a sun-kissed spitfire with golden hair, sky-blue eyes, and a will as immovable as his own.
Keeping her safe is his first priority, but this bold, courageous woman's wings won't be clipped. Before they can plant the seeds of a future together, he'll have to convince her that spending Christmas - and maybe every holiday to come - with him isn't the end of the world. Because she's become the center of his.

A Portuguese Christmas
I enjoyed listening to Allyson Voller, a joy to listen to.
This is a lovely love story. We meet a very stubborn American surfer who is injury and most stay in Portuguese for Christmas , were she meets just as stubborn Portuguese farmer . They fight and also fight their attraction to each other.

Get into the holiday spirit!
Going to Portugal is be Krystal's chance to achieve her dreams. Winning the surfing competition will allow her to do what she needs to keep her father close. It's been several years since she has been on the scene. After the death of her husband, she just couldn't bring herself to the waves. Now back, she has her chance. An unfortunate turn of events though has her sidelined for a bit, but being cared for by Adolfo is no hardship. These two have an instant connection, but his fear of her getting hurt again is interfering with their budding relationship. Will she get back on the board? Will she get home in time for Christmas with her father? Will Adolfo stand by her side? This is the perfect way to start the holiday season. A lot of family, a budding love and realizing what dream you really want to achieve. Josie Rivera gives us all the feels with this one. Grab it now to get into the spirit!
Allyson Voller is such a great narrator and bringing this gem to life was wonderful! She has a warmth in her tone as Adolfo that let me hear his adoration for Krystal. She kept the stubbornness and attitude with Krystal giving her that realistic feel. Loved this narration and enjoyed Voller's performance.

Okay
If you are looking for a Hallmark movie in book form this is perfect for you! I enjoyed learning about the various Portuguese customs and that the main character expressed that it is okay for dreams to change as you get older. I really appreciated that insight. The narrator did the girl's voices well and the Portuguese accent but her male voices annoyed me. They had a surfer bum quality that drives me crazy. I love books that bring me in and are page turners where I can't put it down. Unfortunately this book didn't accomplish this for me. I found that I was forcing myself to finish the book instead of looking forward to listening.
