This was an excellent follow up to 'The Hanged mans noose'.We follw the story with Arraballa and Emily doing a benefits big prize from the Glass Dolphin.A body is found and the whole town is suspected of murder.Kelli Lindsay did a fne job with narration.I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.'

Fully fleshed characters and an interesting story

After enjoying ‘Than Hanged Man’s Noose’ so much, I was eager to continue listening to Emily and Arabella’s adventures. There’s a golf tournament celebrated in Lount’s Landing, and the Glass Dolphin is participating as a sponsor. The atmosphere is festive and relaxed until Arabella discovers a body close to one of the holes. The dead man is no other than Arabella’s husband’s father. This is why the book feels more centered around Arabella than Emily, but there are still plenty of moments where the two girls investigate together.

I had a great time listening to this cozy mystery. The inhabitants of Lount’s Landing are already like old friends to me, and the several twists and turns in the story kept my attention until the end. It was clever how many of the characters were related, and this made the story more interesting and intricate. Judy Penz Sheluk creates fully fleshed characters and weaves interesting stories with great style.

What felt strange was that this book is narrated by a different person than book one. I didn’t feel very attached to the narrator or the first book, but even like that, it felt off (it always does when changing narrators mid-series). Kelli Lindsay’s voices and interpretations were very good, which made the dialogs flow easily, but in general, I found her reading a bit clunky and with some pauses where there shouldn’t have been any. Kind of like trying to read a text instead of narrating a story.

I am looking forward to more sleuthing by Emily and Arabella, and more stories and curiosities about antiquities and female entrepreneurship.

Golf, Media Gossip and Murder.

Arabella and Emily are in a partnership in running a small town antique shop. They sponsor a golf tournament in an effort to create some publicity but are rewarded with a dead body being discovered at the tournament. Our very likeable and intrepid duo set out to investigate. The characters, dialogue and setting are wonderfully portrayed and further enhanced by first rate narration. The listener is treated to a murder mystery with twists, turns and intrigue. This is a very enjoyable novel.

A Good Mystery

The story has my attention in all that was going on, an interesting puzzle that had enough to keep going on.Such a pleasure to be taken along in the story

I suppose we can give it a shot!

Emily and Arabella hope to promote their Glass Dolphins antique shop by hosting a golf tournament with a simultaneous silent auction to raise money for charity. The starter gun is fired, the first puts taken - then it all comes to a shuddering halt when the dead body of a man is discovered, concealed in the undergrowth beside the golf course. Not only did Arabella find the body, she learns that he'd been almost part of the family once and gets drawn, with her friends, into an investigation to find the killer before the police arrest the wrong man.

Good small town characters and life - not everyone is pleasant and gossip spreads like wildfire. The plot is quite convoluted, it seems, and keeps the reader guessing with some unexpected twists. The characterization is good, and the town of Lounts Landing comes to life: just smell that coffee! Lots of little details add to the reality of place and people.

This is book two in the series but completely stand alone. Narrator, Kelli Lindsay, gives a reasonable performance. She reads clearly, with good intonation, but fractionally too slowly to make for comfortable listening. This, combined with an higher, less warm voice than the previous narrator, does not convey the fullness of the text, unfortunately.
Still a good read, however, and recommended for an enjoyable escapism mystery tempting the reader to work out who-dun-it? before the final revelations.

Well Develped Characters

I enjoyed this cozy mystery. I feel like the author brings a lot to the table through her well developed characters and very relatable. There are twists that keep the listener engaged in the story. This was a fun mystery that wraps up nicely. Even though this is a series, these books can be listened as standalone novels; however, there are some minor references that may not be understood without reading the 1st one in the series.

I thought the narrator did a great job in this performance. Their voice fit the main character well and they did a good job distinguishing between each character.

A Hole in One

After listening to the 3 mystery set by Judy Penz Sheluk I looked forward to reading this one, I was not disappointed, Not the greatest Cozy mystery but certainly not the worst, the characters are a bit hazy in parts but each has a good part to play in the overall story. The narrator Kelli Lindsay does a great job and keeps the story going well, the ending is a surprise as usual. I look forward to reading more from Judy in the future.
