Summary

FNH Audio presents a slightly abridged performance of this fifth volume of Charles Oman's military history classic.

In this fifth volume, a detailed examination is made of the period from October 1811 to August 1812. This volume covers the battles of Valencia, Ciudad Rodrigo, Badajoz, Salamanca and Madrid.

This history, written many years after Napier's, draws its information from more firsthand accounts and corrects some of the more glaring mistakes and biases of Napier. Although this audiobook is slightly abridged, the only text removed is a small number of footnotes written entirely in French. All English text from the appendices and footnotes is present.

Volume one of this set is available under the title A History of the Peninsular War 1807-1809. Volume two of this set is available under the title A History of the Peninsular War Volume 2: January-September 1809. Volume three of this set is available under the title A History of the Peninsular War Volume 3: September 1809-December 1810. The fourth volume of the set is available under the title A History of the Peninsular War Volume 4: December 1810-December 1811.

First class

An exceptional amount of first class information, that is extremely well narrated by Felbrigg Napoleon Herriot. If you enjoy the Peninsular War period, then this is the book for you. Names; places, dates, battles, marches, manovoures, tactics and even the codes and ciphers used. Thoroughly enjoyed and recommend.
