About this listen

Miss Dido Kent has developed a taste for mysteries and is finding the quiet holiday at her cousin Flora's home rather unchallenging, to say the least. So when a neighbour dies suddenly, leaving her entire estate to her young nephew, Miss Dido can't help but be suspicious.

When the local doctor pronounces an overdose as the cause of death and publicly accuses the nephew of killing his aunt, Flora prevails upon her cousin's mystery-solving capabilities to prove the nephew innocent. Miss Dido can hardly refuse. After all, what harm can a little investigating do?

With dirty dealings and death amongst Richmond's upper classes, Miss Dido Kent is ideally placed to observe her neighbours, and brings more to light than she could have imagined.

Not for me

This book will suit those that appreciate, dare I say, Barbara Cartland-type cliched trite. I found the intonation of the narration inadequate in places and it took some time to get into the plot. I also found some of the threads of the plot annoying -ensconced in stereotypical banality. Nevertheless I didn't immediately guess 'who did it' so it proved mildly entertaining, in the mildest of ways and I guess I should have paid more attention to the title of the book as this should have indicated what I had in store!
