Excellent guide
The book takes us through the life of families struck by their father's Alzheimers. Through the eyes of the caregivers, we learn how commitment and determination can help families provide decent care to their loved ones.
You will learn about dementia statistics, screening options, types of dementia, and the best ways to deal with the condition with dignity and patience.
There are a lot of examples of hands-on activities. I find the recommendations on finding long-term care options and homes especially valuable.

Dementia Care with Compassion and Confidence
This audiobook is a compassionate and comprehensive guide for those of us who are caring for loved ones with dementia. Backed by beautiful narration, the book's warm and empathetic tone provides a comforting presence for caregivers, while the practical advice and relatable anecdotes offer concrete strategies for managing the daily challenges of dementia care. I love the case studies in the text – they bring the material to life.
From understanding the disease and its progression to managing financial and legal considerations, this guide covers a wide range of topics with clarity and sensitivity. I was particularly impacted by the author's emphasis in chapter 9, on the importance of self-care and emotional support. This is particularly important, for often we as caregivers ignore our own needs in these incredibly overwhelming and isolating circumstances.
Author Parker's expertise and compassion shine through in every chapter of this rather informative audiobook – a gem for those maneouvering in this pivotal role.

A Loving Guide for Caregivers
You can't usually see it coming. It might start with taking them to the doctor's once in a while or picking something up at the store for them. Before you know it, they're forgetting things and can't drive themselves, so you're arranging all their appointments and transportation. Caring for a loved one with Dementia can be taxing and downright overwhelming. In this audiobook, the author addresses how to give your loved one the care and attention they need and that you want to give them- without the guilt or burnout that can come with the role of family caregiver. I especially like the section that deals with enhancing the quality of life, and the part about surviving the emotional roller coaster. This audiobook is a "must listen" for anyone with a loved one suffering from Dementia.
