About this listen
Live your dream of Italy...
Here is your chance to buy your own home in southern Italy for less than the price of a cup of coffee. The picturesque mountain town of Montenello is selling off some of its historic buildings for just ONE EURO each. The only conditions are that purchasers must renovate their new home within the next three years and that they plan to contribute in a meaningful way to this small community.
To be considered as a future resident of Montenello contact the town's mayor, Augusto Rossi. Live your dream of Italy for just one euro.
When the Mayor of a picturesque Italian town launches a new scheme to rejuvenate the community, his advertisement is read with interest and excitement by many. Zara is in her thirties and desperate to get on the property ladder. Tim and Lynda are retiring and need a project. Some are looking for a peaceful bolthole. Others hope to make a profit, start a business, escape a dull life or an unhappy relationship. And there is someone who just might be hiding their true motivation...
Their lives are about to change forever - but can they make their dream of Italy into a reality? A deliciously escapist summer read.

A house for a Euro?
I loved this book. A town in Italy that is falling apart, a mayor who wants to bring in new people. A group of people from all different walks of life whose stories unfold. I loved all the characters and it is a heartwarming story.

Interesting story
Really enjoyed the story but felt that the ending was a bit rushed and could have been expanded more. As always Nicky Pelligrino’s work is enjoyable.

Escape to Italy ;)
I adored this book. The only negative is that I can't go and visit Montenello and the people who started to feel like friends to me.

Just love this narrator + Pellegrino's books.
I always feel like I'm away in a foreign country, relaxing and in heaven when I listen to McDowell reading Pellegrino's books. A holiday every time I read ❤️ thank you both

Nice easy listening 'Escape'
Perfect easy-listening, undemanding read. It was easy to imagine and escape to one of those pretty, ancient hill top towns you see in Italy, and the descriptions were evocative.. The story was pleasant and enjoyable and beautifully performed.

Dull narrating!
The storyline was pleasant enough but to many characters for the length of the book.
The narrator I found dull, with every character sounding the same apart from the 2 accents.
I may attempt one more from this author as I love everything Italian. But I think I’d be more likely to read the next one!

Not exiting
Story was a bit plain, basic. It did not kept me interested or looking forward to go back to finish the book.
I didn't like the narrator either.
