***POTENTIAL SPOILERS***

Having so recently finished the Throne of Glass series, the urge to compare the two is high.

I wasn't so sure I'd come to like the characters as much, and it certainly took me a little while longer to warm to them.

Part of the barrier initially was that I was on audio book during my morning commute. I didn't gel with Jennifer Ikeda (who narrates this book) to begin with, but after a few chapters it started to flow more.

Feyre is an interesting protagonist. There's the juxtaposition between being the savvy, hard working, hunter gatherer of her family (following her gut when stalking the wolf in the opening chapters), and the polar opposite when thrust into Prythian where she seems to make poor judgement calls (easily believing that her father has come to her aid despite the many obstacles he'd have faced) and putting herself in harms way.

I'm typical SJM style, you tag your romantic interest early on, only to have whiplash by the end of the book. It's one of the things I like most about her stories.... And it reminds me not to get too comfortable ☺

That said, despite Rhysands good intentions I cannot see how Feyre can see him in another light..... But this is the girl who has forgiven the man she loves for manoeuvring her into killing an innocent fae and then kidnapped her under false pretenses.

Maybe I'm in need of chocolate, maybe I'm a bit cynical, but I don't think Rhysand is going to be replacing Rowan in my heart any time soon.

I'm still excited for the next installment... Can I count on more Nesta and Lucien?

Stunning

Having discovered Sarah Maas' books mid 2018, I have not stopped listening since.

A Court of Thorns and Roses is set in a land of faeries and mortals. A love affair between a mortal and a High Fae Lord. This book starts off slowly, but really takes off after the first few chapters. I have to admit to finding Feyre a little naive and rambling, at times and, towards the end, I found the last trial she had to overcome predictable.

Tamlin and Feyre's love looks as though it will last through it all, but I have a feeling that a love triangle in the future between Feyre and Rhysand is on the cards. Lucian I feel a little sorry for as he seems to lose out, and, again, I feel he will end up the scapegoat in all of this.

YOU WILL NOT REGRET THIS !

Simply amazing ! I find it hard to get into audiobooks but acotar was something I found myself constantly wanting to listen to all day every day! its a great fantasy story and if you give over to the magic and fairy story it is honestly one of the best reads ive had in a while!. moving on to the rest of the series has been a treat to see these characters develop. honestly once you have listened to this you will crave the next one ! cannot wait for the tv show. i hope they do it justice.

Good story

I found it quite difficult to get into this book at first because of the way the book is written and how the narrator told the story. But I persevered on as many people have raved about it and I'm glad. The further I got into the book, the more I found myself looking forward to carry on listening to it. The storyline is good and I enjoyed the ending. Overall by the end of the book, I did enjoy it and I will be reading the second book.

amazing

so i'd heard a lot about this book and i can honestly say it holds up to all the good reviews i have seen. Loved it so much i finished it very quickly. Had to head to the shop to buy a physical copy of the whole series. The writting is easy to get into and the narrator's voice seems to fit perfectly for the character

An absolute blast

I’ve read the books at the beginning of this year. I love it so much that decided to listen again to Feyre’s story !
This begins gives me chills all the way… and it’s so nice to listen to the beginning again.

I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to read about strong female character.

Book brilliant but narrator dreadful

I actually read this book on kindle some years ago and also the follow-on series. It is by far the best book ever (a bit slow to start but bear with it as it's amazing_
I thought it would be nice to hear this on audible after all these years.
Sadly, I can't get past the 4th chapter and have now given up. The narrator has a dreadful nasal voice that slurs and seems to be all on one low-down level which simply drones on & on & on relentlessly. Her different voices for the characters are just about passable but when narrating the main story, I just cannot listen to it anymore.

However, do buy the book because it's superb.

Overall enjoyed but last half not so much

Overall yes I enjoyed it, one part made me cry, but half way into the story, under the mountain, went on a bit long. From the first half vs second, felt like two separate stories.

Gripped me surprisingly

I’m always wary of these types of books and especially in audible. They can be quite boring after a while but happily surprised and became gripped from early on. The story was well written, never boring and had me falling in love with numerous characters, including Alice. Many of these books usually have me being annoyed at the main character when they’re female as they either over do it with being overly bold or weak as wet paper. She was likeable.
To the narrator, she did it well, and made the book enjoyable. She made all of the above possible in terms of loving the characters and being able to imagine the lands and the people and the atmosphere of every moment in the book. I’ve had many late nights wanting to listen to the end of the chapter, so definitely really good!
