About this listen

"A ghostly little book", said Charles Dickens of his famous Christmas novella, which first appeared in 1843. It has become the most famous classic Christmas story of all, with the miserly figure of Scrooge, the epitome of the callous employer; sadly crippled Tiny Tim; and the three spectres: the ghosts of Christmas Past, Christmas Present, and Christmas Future.

This audiobook continues the award-winning series of Dickens' works read by leading English classical actor Anton Lesser.

One of my favourite Christmas stories

I really enjoyed this complete rendition of A Christmas Carol.

Beautifully narrated. This actor has a voice very well suited to the work. His character reading is excellent, even the female characters. He brought the story to life.

Smashing

I love Anton Lesser's readings of Dickens and have every single novel that Mr Lesser has narrated. This is tiptop, as they all are.

Excellent performance

By chance I bought this version, with narration by the same person as I had listened to for A Tale of Two Cities — excellent

A charming seasonal tale

A good, well delivered, unabridged narration of an accessible yet classic Christmas story with good staging.

Wonderfully Read

Enjoyed it enormously. Anton Lesser was wonderful, though it took me a while to stop visualising Jonny Vegas as Scrooge, as the voice he used for old Ebenezer sounded just like him.
