Summary
"I swear. Give me one more chance and I will make the most of it."
Ex-hustler Javier Landes is asking for his third chance at love. The third time proves to be the charm when he meets a Manhattan art therapist named Steffen Finch. What starts as casual and curious deepens into a passionate relationship—everything Jav has ever wanted, and everything he fears losing.
Stef's business card reads Curator & Sailor. His creativity and insightful nature have made him into a talented therapist, the one to call for tough cases. His professional success can't conceal a deep desire to connect with someone, but Javier Landes is the last person Stef expected.
Geronimo "Geno" Caan is Stef's most challenging case. Shattered physically and mentally after a brutal sexual assault, Geno learns to let art express what can't be spoken aloud. But as Geno's attachment to Stef intensifies and spills onto Jav, the boundaries between professional and personal begin to blur.
Over the course of a year, Jav, Stef and Geno form an unexpected and unconventional triangle, revealing how men make love in times of war and how love is a great wisdom made up of small understandings. The long-awaited second book of the Venery series, A Charm of Finches is an epic tale of survival and secrets that will stay with you forever.
Contains adult themes of sexual attraction and sexual violence, written in adult language.

Masterpiece
My god…this is a masterpiece…I’m a loss for words that can describe how much this book made me feel. It’s overwhelming in a beautiful heartbreaking way. It showed me how complex the human mind and emotions are.
Geno story got me in a chokehold throughout the book, his kindness and his strength shone through the despair and darkness. Stef’s work with Geno was a thing of wonder, I was in awe with the way art is used and the potencial in it.
Stef and Jav relationship has to be the most grownup, mature and beautiful one I’ve ever read in my life. It was everything I was hoping and more.
This three men have my heart ❤️
This book is full of strong characters, that inspired me in so many levels. I want to keep it safe, near my heart forever.
Highly recommended for those who love intense, life altering, forever in your mind stories. Please read the triggers, this book has parts that are extremely hard to read, that left me anxious, sad, restless. But it’s a story that has to be told, that brings awareness for a lot of important subjects.
I read and listened. The narration is out of this world. Captured the characters and the feels to perfection.

Phenomenal
I don’t even know where to begin. The story had me hooked. The writing by Suanne Laqueur is absolute perfection. The characters spoke to me like nothing I’ve ever experienced before.
As for Darren Eliker… the man is a magician. I already loved this story when I read it but Darren gave it a depth beyond anything I could have imagined. His narration will blow you away.

Something Special!
Javier held my attention in An Exaltation of Larks and I quickly read A Charm of Finches as his duology. Wow! Wow! Wow! Ms. Laquer's imaginative metaphors, poetic prose, raw dialogue and Javier's arcs elevated this to a very special read. Then there were the gorgeously and flawlessly written chapters 40 - 46 where my five stars settled in stone. I loved that Jav and Stef were viciously honest about love, sex and emotional intimacy in a way atypical to the MM genre. Pity that Geno's story felt like a forced inclusion. Not only did his concerns distract from the serendipitous fluidity of Jav's narrative, he was also superfluous to Jav / Stef's kindred dynamic. Still, what was presented of Jav's life and loves was very compelling and satisfyingly concluded here.
🎧 Darren Eliker obviously cared about his vocal choices because they were spot on, accents perfect and characters vividly realised. However, I wish Eliker didn't save the powerhouse emotional vocal acting just for Geno? He chose to keep Jav's vocals sanguine and Stef's vocal's calm even during their own pivotal OMG moments or when they were tender or intimate. Oh how I wished for more passion and heart with the primary protagonists!! Be that as it may, this was a smooth performance and Jav was portrayed damn near perfectly.
