About this listen

"Truly chilling, Flynn's stories will stick with you long after reading." (Matthew Hutton, The Scare Room podcast)

A Bunch of Fives smacks you straight in the face with a mighty handful of horror fiction. It packs a punch with five hard-hitting short stories, all of which will leave you stunned and dizzy in a delirious stupor.

Within this knuckled work you will find a professional hit man taking on more than he bargained for, a strange creature roaming a Vietnamese island, a nymphomaniac in the midst of a breakdown, a futuristic society obsessed with social media, and much more.

From round one to round five, you will be taken on a disturbing journey that will unnerve you, thrill you, and force you to question your very existence.

A Bunch of Fives should be approached with caution—it’s a knockout!

"Creepy and mystifying, Flynn's weird tales make for a disturbing late-night read." (Regina's Haunted Library)

"You will walk away terrified, gobsmacked, and much more!" (Erica Robyn Reads)

"As someone who reads in a multitude of genres, it was an absolute delight to discover author James Flynn and his art of storytelling. Many of his stories contain a blend of genres that made each story unique unto itself. Flynn has perfected the ability to snare you on the first page of the story, bringing you to the edge of your seat, heart pounding and keeping you perched there until you reach the end." (Lezlie Smith, The Nerdy Narrative)

"I want you to remember me."

Five short stories aimed directly at the reader's solar plexus.. Not quite what I was expecting, somehow, and possibly better aimed at male readers, especially, story 3, Gene Slave which contains some grossly explicit sexual descriptions. In fact, most of these stories were over indulged with distasteful images rather than the planting of ideas to germinate in the reader's own imagination.
All of the tales are graphic, offering a new vision for modern day ideas, from the obsession with financial growth and security to taking our growing trend to show every part of our lives on social media. Narration is by Tim Larkfield with a competent presentation which, slightly jarring, seemed to be appropriate to the book although the g between chapters was sometimes great enough to bring this reader some concern that playmaker actually stopped

My thanks to the rights holders who, at my request, freely gifted me with a complimentary copy of A Bunch of Fives.
The titles of the five stories are:
- Ignorance is bliss
- .Dataism
- Gene Slave
- From Riches to Rags
- The Dutiful Hit
Plus, the author opens with an amusing preface and closing comments
