About this listen
There is a popular belief among Americans, and particularly among Christian Zionists, that the territory of historical Palestine rightfully belonged to the Jewish people because of their ancient connection to the land.
Many even believe hoax claims such as that Arabs only started populating the area in a wave of mass immigration to take advantage of the economic development from Jews returning to the land in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries; that no such place as “Palestine” ever really existed; and that the idea of a “Palestinian” people is a modern invention. Such beliefs are premised on a fundamental misunderstanding of property rights and ignorance of history arising from indoctrination into Zionist propaganda that aims to deny the Palestinian people's own ancient connection to the land.
In “A Brief History of Palestine: From Canaan Through the Mandate Era,” independent journalist Jeremy R. Hammond dispels the myths of Zionist propaganda, illuminating how the modern state of Israel was created through the wholesale rejection of Palestinians’ human rights that culminated in the ethnic cleansing of most of the Arab population from land that they had every right to be living in.
