About this listen
The world has ended. At least we still have dogs.
My name's Griz.
I've never been to school, I've never had friends, in my whole life I've not met enough people to play a game of football. My parents told me how crowded the world used to be, before all the people went away, but we were never lonely on our remote island. We had each other, and our dogs.
Then the thief came.
He told stories of the deserted towns and cities beyond our horizons. I liked him - until I woke to find he had stolen my dog. So I chased him out into the ruins of the world.
I just want to get my dog back, but I found more than I ever imagined was possible. More about how the world ended. More about what my family's real story is. More about what really matters.
A Boy and his Dog at the End of the World is an extremely moving story. Perfect for fans of Life of Pi, The Girl with All the Gifts or Station Eleven - Griz's dystopian tale mixes sadness and hope in one unforgettable character's quest after the apocalypse.

Easy post apocalypse read
I really enjoyed this one. I do enjoy a good post apocalypse novel but many of them are tense and/or formulaic. This one had a more upbeat tone. The central character, Griz, was fairly young - never specified but in my mind maybe mid teens - so the voice was young in tone. There was also quite a happy contentment with life generally - apart from one issue that sends Griz off on a quest. This is not a grim “The Road” type story of hardship and hunger. There is plenty of food around in the world that has returned to hunger gatherer status. I think if most of us disappeared tomorrow the world would do just fine - and this is the world that Griz inhabits. An easy read with some interesting plot lines. A good companion on a long drive through our traffic clogged 21st century world

Tired, yet satisfied...
I had thought this book sounded intriguing, but I turned out to be so much more. It’s 3.30am as I write this, having just finished this book, as I simply couldn’t resist following to the very end. It succeeded in pulling every emotion from me whilst also making me so invested in the outcome. The outcome was... well, that would be telling now wouldn’t it? Fabulously read by the author; not something that’s the norm in my experience. His narration was utterly perfect because he understood his characters so well. I thank him for writing such a story in a way that leaves so much to think about.

Apocalyptic genre with a twist. The author reads the book really well and he makes the characters come alive. An excellent read!

Very enjoyable listen
I really enjoyed this book, it took me away into a futuristic world and kept me captivated throughout. The title says it all, a boy and his dog at the end of the world. Some sad moments and at one point I almost skipped to the end to see if it had a happy ending but I'm glad I resisted and just kept listening as it's a wonderful book and brought to a close very well.

Marvellous story
I picked this up based on a recommendation by Mike Carey, and I'm so glad I did. It's a marvellous book, immediately gripping, read very well by the author. Griz is an engaging character, and the author is clearly a dog person, as the dogs are also fully fleshed characters. The book is an adventure, a musing on what it means to be human, an end-of-the-world story, and a tribute to dogs and the people who love them. My only criticism is the author's overuse of sometimes clumsy foreshadowing, but that is a minor issue. As far as dystopian novels go, it is really refreshing to read one where survivors are more focused on reestablishing a way to live rather than devolving into hyperviolent warlord societies. Highly recommended.

Excellent
This is an excellent read. I loved it from the first word to the last. Full of pace and excitement. Moving and exciting all at the same time. I was sad when it came to an end.

Absolutely Amazing.
For me this book was perfect. I would definitely recommend to anyone who likes The Road by Cormac McCarthy .
