Sarah de Nordwall
About this listen
Sarah de Nordwall is a poet and storyteller who calls herself a bard with a bard school. In 1993 she was inspired by an account of the ancient bards of Ireland who were called to 'speak truth to the king without fear' and to 'entertain all from the peasant to the king'. This she determined to do and also to set out to found a bard school like the ones of old that trained one for such a mission. Since then she has been writing and performing her poems and stories in her unique style for 20 years all around the UK and also in Saskatchewan, Transylvania, and Lourdes, from day centers for the homeless to the House of Lords. She is bringing out this edition of 50 of her best loved poems to celebrate her 50th birthday this year and hopes that the telling of a small part of the tale will inspire others to take up their pens, their paints, and their dance shoes afresh and explore for themselves the enchanting delights and perils of the bardic life.
Sarah's voice is uniquely beautiful and compelling to listen to, and the most frequent comment of those leaving her poetry shows is 'thank you for the joy! ' Now that her book is available in audio, you will be able to hear for yourself how she manages to awaken the inner bards of those who listen and allow the spiritual beauty of words and humor to reorder the chaos and awaken creativity and hope.

A book that offers more than the title suggests
This book is about so much more than the title suggests. Yes, it contains many fabulous poems by the author, performance poet and practising catholic, Sarah de Nordwall. And it includes some inspiring writing exercises, suitable for beginners or experienced writers alike. More importantly though it offers a treasury of wise words about how to live a courageous, creative life. Like a medieval bard, de Nordwall employs storytelling to draw the listener into a ‘her own world of words’ and shows us how poetry is always close at hand and ready to transform our lives, if only we will take a leap of faith and give our voice to it. I highly recommend this book, it is original, funny, profound and memorable!

Joyful Inspiration
So refreshing and life-giving to hear this wonderful gifted poet - even as I was driving, getting lost in narrow lanes of Shoreditch.
Infused with hope and inner strength and humour. A very uplifting listen. And I've only heard the wonderful introduction and first few poems so far... so happy there is more to listen to.
