About this listen

Amoral, cunning, ruthless, and instructive, this piercing work distills 3,000 years of the history of power into 48 well-explicated laws. This bold volume outlines the laws of power in their unvarnished essence, synthesizing the philosophies of Machiavelli, Sun Tzu, Carl von Clausewitz, and other infamous strategists. The 48 Laws of Power will fascinate any listener interested in gaining, observing, or defending against ultimate control.

Great.

I bought this after listening to the Laws of Human Nature and Mastery. I didn't enjoy the subject of this one quite so much but I do enjoy his books.

Super disturbing but true

Every part of my mind wanted to reject the truth this book told me but while looking deeper into myself I realized, I had been avoiding the real rules behind power and why people can be corrupted by them.

Skills and understanding for many parts of life

Highly recommended reading/listening to help you understand the power games and psychology of life in business, personal life and working careers (especially management and above).

I read this over 10 years ago and still well worth reading/listening to again. Got so much more from it and the book is like a life companion now. Give it every member of your family to read. Your kids will thank you for it (eventually).

Some people say this book is evil. I understand their point of view and add that it was what we do with knowledge that can make it positive or negative. I recall the author saying that he doesn't use all the laws in his life as it would not sit well with him.

This is a great book about strategies that some people apply in many aspects of life. Even if you don't apply these laws yourself, it is good to be aware of when you are being played.

Best Book I've ever consumed

The more you read it the better it gets. 3rd or 4th time reading now. The voice and pace of this audiobook tops it off.

God knows how this man accumulated such a genius body of information

interesting, but take with a grain of salt

It was certainly an interesting read. It's both practically and ethically maybe a bit shaky.

Robert Greene’s books are superb. This is the classic.

I took ages to decide to listen to this book. It seemed like a negative thing to worry about power and achieving it but I soon decided it was better to know what power is and how people use it so gave it a go and really enjoyed it. I preferred the second half of the book and I prefer ‘the laws of human nature’ personally but this is very good and the narration very enjoyable
