Read by award-winning narrator Jeff Harding.

**NOW A MAJOR PRIME TV SERIES STARRING ALAN RITCHSON**

Reacher never backs down from a problem.

And he's about to find a big one, on a deserted Arizona road, where a Jeep has crashed into the only tree for miles around. Under the merciless desert sun, nothing is as it seems.

Minutes later Reacher is heading into the nearby border town, a backwater that has seen better days. Next to him is Michaela Fenton, an army veteran turned FBI agent, who is trying to find her twin brother. He might have got mixed up with some dangerous people.

And Reacher might just need to pay them a visit.

Their leader has burrowed his influence deep into the town. Just to get in and meet the mysterious Dendoncker, Reacher is going to have to achieve the impossible.

To get answers will be even harder. There are people in this hostile, empty place who would rather die than reveal their secrets.

But then, if Reacher is coming after you, you might be better off dead.

Although the Jack Reacher novels can be listened to in any order, Better Off Dead is the 26th ausiobook in the internationally popular series.

‘Jeff Harding’s [...] narration captures Reacher’s character perfectly [...] you have to savour every minute.’ The Sunday Times

Sad times

I never write reviews and never thought I would give a Reacher book less than 5 stars across the board. But.
This is OKish - it just doesn’t have the LC magic touch I know so well. Which is great in a way, as it shows the originals were something really special. Here there’s too much exposition and telling. Not enough witholding and showing. Empty characters. More plot holes than normal (dead guys everywhere?!). Listening to the great JH narrate The Enemy & 61 hours for the 2nd time just before this, and the difference is stark

not the best, but good enough

Another decent story. Hard to keep producing top stories, but another satisfactory offering from the Child brothers.

Excellent story

Reacher back to his best and Jeff Harding excellent as always with his narration, really enjoyed the story but for me was spoilt by being written in the 1st person, just doesn't sound right with a reacher story.

Not up to previous standard

Not up to previous standard in my opinion, rather boring, very slow.
I have to say I love the Reacher books and have read every one but on Audible I have always found Jeff Harding to have a really boring way of speaking ( much prefer the ones read by Kerry Shale ) so that may have something to do with my opinion of this book.

Not the best

1st time listening to Reacher via audible. I've read all the other books. It must be tough filling Lee's boot's in a writing capacity but this joint venture, story wise, didn't work for me. Didn't like the story and I didn't like Jeff's voice on narration, although I have listened to other books narrated by Jeff Harding, and enjoyed. So, for me, the story and narration didn't go well together. Sorry. Back to the books I'm afraid and wait till October.

A little lack lustre

Feels a bit like authors and narrator just going through the motions with this one. Hoping Andrew Child gets his feet under him and gives us something the audience and narrator can get their teeth into.
