Summary
Random House presents the audiobook edition of Lost Dog written and ready by Kate Spicer.
'It’s a fabulous book...I couldn’t put it down.' Jane Fallon
Meet woman's best friend.
Kate is a middle aged woman trying to steer some order into a life that is going off the rails. When she adopts a lurcher called Wolfy, the shabby rescue dog saves her from herself. But when the dog disappears, it is up to Kate to hit the streets of London and find him. Will she save him, as he has saved her - or will she lose everything?
As she trudges endlessly calling his name in the hopeless hope she may find him, she runs into other people’s landscapes and lives, finding allies amongst psychics, bloggers and mysterious midnight joggers. Trying to find her dog tests her relationship, and her sanity, to its limits – and gets her thinking about her life, and why things have turned out as they have for her. A brilliant, life-affirming memoir, Lost Dog is a book like no other about both about the myth of modern womanhood, and the enduring mystery of the relationship between human and canine.

Must read for all animal (and human) lovers
Took a little while to get into, but was totally engaging from about half way through. A definite must read for all dog lovers, and also observers of human nature. Utterly spellbinding towards the end. Reinforces the power of love, (for humans and beloved animals.) Makes me appreciate my beloved woofies sat beside me now. Brilliant narration also - which is hugely important to me. An utter delight to read/listen to. (Though that last hour or so was a tad stressful! Had to open a bottle of red to recover 😉

If you have a dog, listen to this
Anyone who has a dog should read/listen to this book. If you have Lurchers is a must, you will recognise everything that is said as it is from the heart, which is where our dogs live.

Loved it!
I am a dog owner and this book got me in all the right places. I cried tears and could really relate to the story about owning a dog and the emotions that go along with that. The author tells the story in a frank and real way and to start with I wasn’t sure I liked her very much and wasn’t sure I could relate to her. However that doesn’t last long and I found the book uplifting if not emotional but a great book that I was sad to finish.

Wolfe
Great story glad to know I’m not the only one who loves their dogs so deeply. So glad it was a happy ending. Having Kate read it made feel so much more real. Loved it.
Heard about it through Jo Goods pod cast Dogs and the City. 🐾#

Witty and moving. Loved it
I must qualify this review. I have a dog and suffer from the same oxytocin addition that Kate does. But I am not at all into the world of fashion, so I wasn’t a total slam dunk for the book. It’s a wonderful book. Kate describes how it feels to own and love a dog perfectly. All the insanity and joy of it. It’s also very funny and a sharp view of the moneyed classes of England. I hope she’s written more. And it’s great to have the author narrate it. She does a great job.
