Summary
Brought to you by Penguin.
I know you don’t know me but you have to help me. I didn’t kill anyone.
When Rowan stumbles across the advert, it seems like too good an opportunity to miss: a live-in nanny position, with a staggeringly generous salary. And when she arrives at Heatherbrae House, she is smitten by the luxurious ‘smart’ home fitted out with all modern conveniences, by the beautiful Scottish Highlands, and by this picture-perfect family.
What she doesn’t know is that she’s stepping into a nightmare – one that will end with a child dead and her in a cell awaiting trial for murder.
She knows she’s made mistakes. But she’s not guilty – at least not of murder. Which means someone else is…
Full of spellbinding menace, The Turn of the Key is a gripping modern-day haunted house novel.

Great narration
Kept me listening although a little drawn out. Suspense was well built to a rather disappointing end I’m afraid. Narrator was very good though.

Good, but Scarey
Interesting Story, a bit scarey for me. Love the Narrative.
I enjoyed the bits when the children were happy.
I don't think in real life she would have been convicted

Enthralling listen
Imogen Church's narration of Ruth Ware's fast paced retelling of Henry James Turn of the Screw is surely the icing on the cake.

Gripping, engaging,
A large part of the book very well written, with great narration. But, the ending was a bit of an anti-climax. It also desperately needed an epilogue, as lots of loose ends needed tying. However on the whole I enjoyed it and some of the concepts were quite original.

Good story
Enjoyed the book. Well read good story line with a few twists and turns .
I did feel there was a little too much swearing for my taste and feel this lets the book down.

Ode to Henry James
This is a great slowly burning thriller which tilts a hat at The Turn of the Screw by Henry James. Spooky isolation, Haunted house and the unknown quantities of some characters have much in common with the James tale although this is obviously not a retelling of that tale but I did note the similarities which is not a bad thing.
Ruth Ware has definitely got her own style and can certainly pen a very intriguing and easily entertaining book.
As a narrator I have always quite liked Imogen Church as she is always a concise and consistent performer.
An enjoyable listen that mixes the psychological thriller with the physical mystery.
