About this listen

Random House presents the audiobook edition of My Name is Anna by Lizzy Barber, read by Julie Rogers and Tamaryn Payne.

Two women – desperate to unlock the truth.

How far will they go to lay the past to rest?

ANNA has been taught that virtue is the path to God. But on her eighteenth birthday she defies her Mamma’s rules and visits Florida’s biggest theme park.

She has never been allowed to go – so why, when she arrives, does everything seem so familiar? And is there a connection to the mysterious letter she receives on the same day?

ROSIE has grown up in the shadow of the missing sister she barely remembers, her family fractured by years of searching without leads. Now, on the fifteenth anniversary of her sister’s disappearance, the media circus resumes in full flow, and Rosie vows to uncover the truth.

But will she find the answer before it tears her family apart?

Good story but bit dull

I started this listen with anticipation as it had good reviews however I was a bit disappointed. It dragged on a bit and the narrator's voice for Anna was very irritating. I found the characters a bit bland and there was little development of them during the course of the narrative. I found the eventual twist behind Anna's disappearance far fetched. Not a favorite.

Cliched

This book reminded me of the TV series Finding Carter. It is very cliched. The narrator tries too hard. I listened till the end but wish I hadn't bothered.

Gripping from beginning to end.

This book is AMAZING. I don’t think I’ve ever been so gripped EVER - not by Christie, nor Sheldon, nor my recent latest pet thriller author Marrs. Lizzy Barber is something apart.
I am not literary in any way but I do love the way Barber strings her words together and makes each and every one count. Sometimes well written books annoy me with their floweriness and frilliness. I often feel the need to just enjoy the language of a well written book and forget the story as I’m not gifted with any ability of multi tasking! To my ignorant eyes and ears My Name is Anna is not only beautifully crafted but the eloquence of the writing is part of the story rather than getting in the way of the story.
I am reading in parts both from the hard copy and kindle but in the main I am listening and both the narrators are the most suited to the novel I’ve heard on Audible.
I am a little cross though as I cannot get on with my day nor sleep at night as I can’t put it down!!
Really sad to have finished this book. Can’t wait for the next!

Great listen!

Amazing book... a bit Carrie-ish (but not scary) ... the narrator of Anna has you hooked. Just get through the first few chapters and you’ll be hooked.

Under 18

I actually finished this because it became a source of amusement as I wondered how much more unlikely yet predictable it could get. Definitely written for young adults, a sort of mash up of Carrie, Frozen and the famous five
