About this listen

Penguin presents the audiobook edition of Tom Clancy's Power and Empire by Marc Cameron, read by Scott Brick.

As the world shakes from seemingly disparate outbursts of terrorism, Jack Ryan prepares for a crucial negotiation with President Zhou's increasingly hostile China.

But when a routine traffic stop on an isolated road in rural Texas leads to the discovery of a stolen USB stick, it becomes clear there is a dark connection between the attacks.

With tensions rising, a US spy ship in the South China Sea gets caught up in a violent storm - a storm which threatens to push it into the path of the Chinese navy, with potentially disastrous consequences.

As the international summit approaches, and the mastermind behind the violence remains at large, Jack Ryan has no choice but to face Zhou. Little does he realise he's walking straight into the jaws of the dragon...

Another great novel from the Clancy Group

A story that blends the old with the the new. The Campus sees Clark e back in full action & Ryan Jr. Doing his best to achieve his father's legacy.

Great Narration As Always

Scott Brick does a fine job of narrating the tale as always, but this is just a lacklustre, by the numbers attempt at a thriller, using characters from within the Jack Ryan story arc.
It's one more for the completists but adds little to the overall timeline within the series.

It just seemed to peter out........

I really miss Tom Clancy his writing spanned the globe and you could almost imagine him in a room moving pieces around as he wrote like you see in the old WW II films.

Marc Cameron started out well with seemingly random events occurring. We even had two stories with a mini version of Without Remorse.

The conclusion seemed so occur so quickly it felt as if the Author was pushed to finish the book or got board.

Couldn’t work out if it was a Jack Ryan Senior or a Jack Ryan Junior novel. It was nice to have the comfort of familiar names but no ( or very little of ) Gavin Biery’s sarcasm and genius.

The other redeeming feature is the narrator Scott Brick who helps turn average writing into a good story

Great first book from Marc

I have seen some negative reviews for this book but I loved it the story was great and Scott Brick was excellent as normal.

The only thing I found disappointing was the rushed finish I think if it carried on a bit longer it would be brilliant

A must read

Too long and bloated

Hi, always been a fan of the Jack Ryan senior and junior books but this was too long and felt padded out. I lost track of some of the characters which was not helped by some of the names being similar.

Good but it is no Clancy Original

The follow books are fine, if you have followed the story from the start great but otherwise a bit lacking in depth.

The length of them gets me, around 16 hours. Tom Clancy's books we all 25-40+ hours.
