About this listen
Brought to you by Penguin.
Twenty-three years ago, Christina Tolmie vanished without trace from northern France, leaving her young daughters Kate and Flora orphaned and alone.
Now Flora is also missing. In desperation, Kate searches her Edinburgh house, and finds a piece of note paper with just one name: Cal McGill.
Cal is a so-called sea detective, an expert on the winds and the tides, and consequently an exceptionally gifted finder of lost things - and lost people.
Kate hopes that Cal might not only find her sister, but also unlock the mystery that has overshadowed both women's lives: what happened to their beloved mother all those years before?
Unfortunately, Cal doesn't think he can help. But that's only because he hasn't yet realised that the dark undercurrents of the case will ultimately lead him back dangerously close to home...

Another great read in this series
I really enjoyed this fourth book in the sea detective series. The characters were interesting and I felt like I got to know Cal a bit better. Lots of interesting twists and turns and an intriguing outcome.

NOW BREATH IN...
Having listened to the previous three books by this Author, I can assure you, there will be no disappointment!
So well performed by David Monteath...and it's my belief that David is one of the best. It held me enthralled right to the last word.
Note to Author...Will you please get your head down and produce the next book...I can't really settle until I know what happens next 🤣

Another great story
I enjoyed this book but found it very complicated with the personal relationships of the characters. A usual, David Monteath did a cracking job of narrating it.

Intriguing characters, interspersed with fascinating and enlightening facts. Again, thoroughly enjoyed from start to finish!
I have now read this full series of books on the sea detective and have been totally "hooked" pardon the pun. My most go-to books tend to be mystery and detective, this series is so captivating because of the myriad of characters whose lives, intriguingly come together, in the most unusual ways. The reader is skillful and the characters are brought to life through his wonderful delivery.
The narrative about the sea, currents and determining how objects in the water can travel hundreds of miles is just fascinating. This collection is so different from anything I have read before.
More please!

Brilliant series
Another excellent Sea Detective novel by Mark Douglas-Home and, as always, perfect narration by David Monteath. These stories are so intelligent, well-written and thoroughly engrossing. Interesting characters, plot and settings. Cal is a wonderful invention, one of my great favourites and having his work involve tracking lost cargo/corpses by ocean currents makes for a fascinating character. Hope Mr Douglas-Home is hard at work on the next instalment!

Another cracking instalment
Great to see Cala and Helen back working together. They’re both great characters, whose individual takes on the story line is cvt At times the plot gets so convoluted it is difficult to follow but as always Douglas-Homes carries you through. The world of beaches and tides is beautifully constructed and described. You can smell the salt and ozone, hear the gulls and waves. The narration is superb, the characters clearly defined by their unique voices. Can’t wait for the next one.
