One of the most important books of our time

Well argued, presented in a reasoned, intelligent way to ensure the message gets through. Everyone should read this and act: a blueprint for peaceful, friendly, non violent, positive, important disruption. If we do nothing, all we hold dear, all these objects and things will be meaningless because we won’t exist.

Such an enlightening read

I rarely feel like I am a different person due to a book but coming out the other side of listening to this I feel I have been on a journey that has changed me. It is an uncomfortable, scary journey but I was surprised how inspiring it is too. I actually feel excited now by how we can move forwards together to build a future where we are so much happier than before.

A manifesto fir climate change

Essential reading for anyone wishing to understand Extinction Rebellion, their objectives, strategies and tactics. Not really a book about climate change (lots of excellent books for this - Mark Lynas would be my recommendation), this book is about the fight for the planet.

essays and ideals epic practically...eh

loved this book will be keeping it for my library I feel that the issues raised here are so important and the solutions well thought out in terms of their ideals especially how all systems are connected in terms of revolution and cooperative causes as I read on however the solutions seemed to become more and more Idealistic and less practical hense the 3 stars people's assembly yes, block roads strategically to stop freight and logistics yes rationing and stopping all freight traffic a laughable concept that doesn't take a solution into account. overall though I will say the ideas about protest what we can do and our responsibility to the earth are all well executed and thought out.

All for XR but this is not a Handbook.

Well narrated. I learned alot. There are somethings I will do to make change here and have already. I wanted more though as a 'handbook' should be a guide. It became too bogged down in the ideology at times.

Religious propaganda but very entertaining

If you want to understand the world view of those Extinction Rebellion (XR) activists who brought London to a standstill then this is the book. It's their manifesto.

No attempt is made to justify the idea of man-made global warming or the apocalyptic predictions of future climate catastrophe - this book is about what the XR people plan to do to stop these events. It get's to the point which is praiseworthy!

Each chapter has a different writer, this makes the book varied and ensures that if one chapter is boring you will not have to wait long for things to become interesting again. The book is also short, brevity is a great feature.

The core of the argument seems to be applying post-modern anti-Europeanism to the environment. "You know those horrible Europeans who gave us capitalism and empire? Well, let's talk about the environment and how the 1st world is committing ecocide!". It was very noticeable that the multiple authors had a strong fetish for tribal (indigenous) cultures and a dislike of Europeans.

I was cringing and laughing throughout. This really is a work of the bourgeois, 30-year-long-gap-year, PhD types who have no problems and so create them. It is the New Testament for the born again vegan. It is the new Communist Manifesto for the sandal-wearing, tambourine-tapping, lentil-eating crusty hippie!

Brief, direct, entertaining. Full marks!
