Summary
稀代の陰陽師・安倍晴明ゆかりの地と言えば、京都の晴明神社や一条戻橋が有名だが、大阪・阿倍野の安倍晴明神社も欠かせない。安倍晴明という占術の大家を祭神とし、「拝み屋」文化の盛んな大阪だけあって、境内の占いコーナーで東洋・西洋の占い師が日替わりで相談に乗ってくれるこの神社は、晴明出生の地に祀られたものだが、そもそも阿倍野という地名は、古代豪族阿部氏の根拠地であったことに由来する。そして、当地に住んでいた安倍保名（やすな）が、「信太の森」で白狐を助け、その狐が化けた「葛の葉」という女性が保名の元へ通い、やがて生まれたのが晴明という伝説がある。正体を知られた葛の葉は「恋しければ信太の森まで訪ねて来い」という歌を残して去り、保名と晴明が訪ねたところ、葛の葉が現れて、神秘的な力を持った霊宝を授けたという。この伝説は、人形浄瑠璃や歌舞伎の題材ともなっているが、阿倍野からいくらか南に離れた和泉市に信太森葛葉稲荷神社が建ち、伝承地となっている。また、安倍晴明神社の隣に建つ阿倍王子神社は、熊野参詣路の九十九王子の一つで、信太も熊野参詣路の途上にあった。人と物とが行き交う街道筋に、異能者の異常出生譚の背景を探る。
