琉球大学文理学部国文科卒業後、公立高校教諭を歴任。
1970年、個人誌『琉球弧』を創刊（～8号〈1978〉）。
1982年、第16回沖縄タイムス芸術選賞奨励賞受賞。
1987年、『うちなーぐちフィーリング』（沖縄タイムス社）により第8回沖縄タイムス出版文化賞受賞。
