I am a physician and a grandmother who lives on Vancouver Island where the trees are very big. My life's work and growing up on three continents, taught me that to truly celebrate diversity, it often helps to find some common ground. The stories shared by my patients instilled a love for our essential humanity and themes of family, friendship and belonging underpin my words. While ‘Ella’s Bear Wears a Hat of Air’ is my first book, gentle humorous looks at the foibles of human behaviour (often my own!) characterize my many published essays. My goal in life has been the same for years - to become the person the dog already thinks I am.
