Where it all started…
I didn’t always have knowledge into natural medicine. I was a hard-core pharmacist when I graduated in 1989 from the University of Florida College of Pharmacy. I knew the next best drug and could rattle them off like the true nerd I am. But when my husband didn’t respond to typical conventional treatment for his symptoms, I started to learn about natural teas, herbs and vitamins which could relieve symptoms as well as medications, but without the harmful side effects.
I immersed myself in the study of natural medicine because nothing from my pharmacy seemed to help. He suggested I write an article in the newspaper to teach others what I was learning at home, thus turning his nightmare into a blessing for others. He only asked that his privacy be respected, so for many years I just wrote my articles, which turned into books, and blogs and social media posts, podcasts and more.
11 Things You Don’t Know About Me
I am a licensed pharmacist for 26 years and yet I make herbal medicinal teas almost every day. Combining the herbs is like a second language and I make teas based upon symptoms.
I love herbs, old fashioned pharmacies and herbal apothecaries. I have more vitamins than I do food.
I like adventure and never say no to a dare.
I love to dance. Anything. Zumba, hip hop, hula hoop, belly, tango, swing, jitterbug, rumba, you name it.
I don’t hear the word “no.” To me, hearing “no” just means I have to try some other way to make it happen. It will happen.
I do my best to turn bad times into good times, for example, at the airport, we had a 6 hour delay and I got up and danced with my dear friend Melissa in the middle of the gate boarding area (yes, in front of people). Click here to watch us.
I’m an explorer. I will turn into curious looking streets and drive, just to see what’s out there.
I will chase sun sets and rainbows if I see them.
I act like I’m 8 years old, instead of 49 running through sprinklers, running outside when it begins to snow, playing in the rain and putting my feet in mud puddles after it rains. Why not?
I dislike soda pop, it makes me burp.
My Hollywood crush is Hugh Jackman.
