River Adams (they/them) grew up a concert pianist in Russia and came to the US as a Jewish refugee as the Soviet Union was about to collapse. In America, they worked as a musician, a medical interpreter for Russian-speaking patients, and a professor of religious studies before turning to writing full time. They hold graduate degrees in theological studies from Harvard Divinity School and in creative writing from Emerson College. Their short prose has appeared in a variety of publications, including The Common, Post Road, New Ohio Review, Bellevue Literary Review, BOMB, The Long Story, Descant, The Arkansas Review, The MacGuffin, and others. They currently live in a small town in Massachusetts with their large and very noisy family of eight humans, two dogs, and a cat, and they fill their life with caregiving, homemaking, and telling stories.
