Naira grew up in Latin America (Mexico, Chile and Argentina) and Africa (South Africa and Egypt) with her family. She went to university in California, where she discovered a passion for ecology and biology, the unifying force that made sense of her many worlds. She began working as a field technician and loved the immersive lifestyle it provided. After working on different field jobs on scattered islands, she moved to New Zealand to complete her masters in Conservation Biology. She is interested in the ways that culture and society inform our experience of "nature" and our interpretations of its value. She is currently living and working in Wellington, New Zealand, as a climate change and sustainability advisor. She loves tending to her little garden, hanging out with her flatmate's cat, going rollerskating and cooking elaborate meals for her friends.
