Her award-winning works have garnered acclaim as winners or finalists in the Midwest Book Awards, Hollywood Book Awards, Mystery & Mayhem Awards, Clue Awards, and Paranormal Awards. D.J. is known for creating mysteries riddled with intriguing questions while intertwined with bantering dialogue and heated conversations that draw the readers into the heart and mind of the central characters.
Best known for the Lillian Dove Mystery Series and her paranormal crime thriller Into the Storm, D.J. often sets her stories in small-town communities, drawing inspiration from her life. The fictional Frytown, Iowa—home to the Lillian Dove series—was inspired by family vacations to the state, where her ancestors established roots in 1865. Many of her family members still live on the original farms and areas that shaped her imagination.
Though born in Oregon after her parents relocated there post-WWII, D. J.’s upbringing in the Willamette Valley and along the Oregon Coast inspired her new series, Cookin’ Up Murder, a Harley Davidson & Tuesday Welsh Investigator series, set in the fictional city of Appleton, Oregon.
With degrees in English and Education, D.J. built a successful career in California, excelling first in sales and marketing before transitioning to academia in English. Yet, her ultimate dream was always to become a novelist. After publishing her first poem at the age of twelve, her discipline and passion led to the release of seven novels—and counting.
D. J. continues to captivate audiences with her compelling storytelling, proving there’s no limit to the heights her imagination can reach.
