About this listen
The Wives. You’re not the only one…
‘Will leave the most sure-footed reader uneasy until the last word is read’ Sunday Times bestselling author Colleen Hoover
‘I was hooked to the very last page’ Sunday Times bestselling author Adele Parks
You’ve never met the other wives. None of you know each other, you see your husband only one day a week. Thursday. But you don’t care, you love him that much. Or at least that’s what you’ve told yourself…
And then, one day it all changes.
You thought you were fine with this, with only having a fraction of a husband. But you can’t help yourself, you start to dig. You begin tracking them down, the other days… Who is Monday and why does she have bruises on her arms? Is she being abused? By who? Her husband? Your husband?
What else is he keeping from you? And who is he, really?

Ending was unrelated
The ending came completely out of nowhere, there was no possible way to see it coming, it was unrelated to the rest of the book, not what I look for in a thriller.

something different
Yay! You might have realised by now that I like to read. A lot. Crime/thriller used to be pretty much the only genre I read. Thank goodness I started working at the bookshop and discovered autobiographies, popular science and current affairs eh? Anyway, back to crime/thrillers. After a while they all get a bit samey. You learn to see the twists coming way before you are even supposed to be aware there is a twist. You know who dun it. It’s always the husband. Or the wife. Either that or they are just not very good… well thank goodness Tarryn Fisher came along and wrote The Wives!
I found this to be unputdownable, a book about a man who has three wives, but no in the sense we have becomes used to from shows like Sister Wives. In the Wives, the three women do not live together, they do not even know each others names. When our narrator, Thursday, goes snooping and discovers that her husband has been beating one of his wives she becomes very concerned (as you would). This is when Tarryn Fisher uses one of my favourite literary devices – the unreliable narrator. It always makes it more exciting and makes twists even twistier. I genuinely could not work out exactly what the twist would be, and it was a good one. The final scene was absolutley brutal, a huge shock that I didn’t even imagine. This was a wild ride from start to finish. If you are fed up with not-so-thrilling thrillers and want something a bit different, then this is the one for you!

Wow that's some crazy s**t
Wow what a book what a story. A book that lived up to the hype and I'm still confused now I have listen the past chapter twice. The narrator was perfect for the story. I look forward to reading another of this writers books again.

Wow!!
This book is the best psychological thriller I've listen to in ages.
At first I could not understand how someone could accept their husband having more than one wife and thought it was probably going to be a very far-reaching plot, but how wrong I was. It had been recommended so I thought I'd give it a go and I'm pleased I did. It was a totally addictive read!!I
Great narration. Overall I definitely recommend!
