About this listen

Bodrick the Bard had enough of the violent life of a mercenary. A legendary lover of women of all sizes, shapes, and fantastical species, he has long since retreated into the comfortable lifestyle of a traveling musician, making more peaceful uses of his talents...and he has many talents.

With the help of his pixie companion, a beautiful elfmaid, and a buxom half-satyr, Bodrick is in for his most pleasurable adventure yet, finding himself tangled up in a bitter feud involving two proud noble families. Manticores, maidens, and music abound in this sexy fantasy romp!

And, fair warning: the "spice" is very frequent.

Content warning: The Bawdy Ballads of Bodrick the Bard contains explicit depictions of adult situations, over-the-top humor, purple prose, and song lyrics that'll make you laugh or cringe (or both). It also features *cough* "unconventional relationships" (wink wink nudge nudge). This book was cowritten by two incorrigibly indecent authors who are a bad influence over one another. You have been warned.

A dumb, fun, hot ride!

At my request I received a copy of this audiobook in order to give a fair and unbiased review.

Genre: Steamy Harem erotica in a fantasy setting following an Adonis like bard

Power dynamics in harem: The girls are smitten beyond even their own comprehension with the dumb as rocks, good natured and exceptionally hot and gifted MC
Explicit/adult material: Frequent/constant hot and explicit. Pixie, Satyr, half elf.

Summary:
Bodrick the Bard and his enamoured pixie partner travels the world, seducing women with his body, charisma and songs.
While he has magnificent powers as a bard and a lover, he has all of the intellect of a pile of rocks. And so the loving pixie helps him through life defending him from those that would take advantage of his kindness.
And inviting those that would take advantage of his manhood.

Narrators
Voice diversity: The voices are not amazingly distinct, but the narration is easy to follow.
Pacing and intonation: Ellory Lane tells the story incredibly well she is an industry expert and it shows.
Sex scenes: So very well done.
I love that the songs are actually sung.
Overall: 4.5 / 5 stars.

The book’s strengths.
- The writing is dumb-fun and silly. Either you hate it or love it. I love it.
- The girls are very varied and the appeal of each is natural. Both physically and in personality. Virgil always has some depth to his characters.
- The absurd D&D bard seducing everyone trope brought to glorious life.
- The narration

The book’s weaknesses.
- It is constant sex and smut. Erotica more so than romance. Which I guess is not a weakness to everyone.

Overall: 4.5/5 stars
Add ½ a star if you are in it for the hot action. Remove ½ a star if you are in it for the relationships. They are there and make sense, but take a back seat.
