enjoyable
really like this book. Only thing I could fault was the way the narrator pronounced New Orleans she said it like "new-or-lee-in-z" which is a really minor thing but I cringed every time she said it, didn't stop me buying the second book though.

Feels like the middle of a series
I'm quite happy with books that start in the middle of the action and then flash back to fill in the back story. This one starts in the middle of the action and just keeps right on going. So many things just left unexplained which meant there was no depth to the characters or story. Apart from that the story moved on quickly and was interesting so I did finish and did enjoy it but I won't carry on with the series. The narration is good with a variety of voices and plenty of intonation

Not very good
The story was flat and boring. It felt like I was starting in the middle of a series but this is book one. There is no world building and I didn't care for any of the characters. It was short and moved fast so I was able to listen to it till the end while I did my chores.
