About this listen

Wren has contemplated the fine line between pleasure and pain for years, but when he finally gets up the nerve to make his fantasies reality, things go terribly wrong. His father’s best friend Leo comes to his rescue, and Wren knows instantly that Leo is the perfect person to introduce him to the world he longs to explore.

Leo has never met Wren before, and once he realizes who Wren is, he vows not to touch him again. Leo knows Wren’s father won’t approve of their relationship, especially considering the edgy play Leo enjoys.

Leo values that friendship too much to risk it, but walking away from Wren isn’t easy. There’s a lot more between Wren and Leo than lust. They’re pulled toward one another despite the trouble their relationship could cause. Ultimately, they give into their desire and begin seeing each other in secret.

The more they explore, the more obvious it becomes that Wren can take everything Leo wants to give, no matter how kinky or intense. They are a perfect fit in bed and out. Neither of them wants to keep hiding their relationship, but they both worry that once Wren’s father knows about them, staying together will be too difficult.

In order to make things work, they’ll both have to believe in the power of love.

Brill

Brilliant steamy story with an age gap that doesn’t matter when you have chemistry. Narrator brought the story to life.

Phew!🔥

Painfully Attractive is the 4th book in the Love and Care Series written by Silvia Violet but can be listened to as a stand-alone as I did.
It’s a May-December BDSM romance that looks at pain and impact play.
The sex scenes are hot but the overall relationship between the two main characters Wren and Leo is loving and sweet with a little bit of angst along the way.
Highly recommend.

Wonderful narration, great story

Greg Boudreaux is one of my favorite narrators. All of this characters have distinct voices and he is wonderfully consistent so it's very easy to follow the story and get lost in it. This is a great example of his skills and thoroughly enjoyable listen.

The story itself is short and intense. Some interesting kink scenes and a sweet romance. I definitely think it is far improved having read the other books in the series. Knowing Wren and Leo from the previous stories gives this one depth that would be missing if you hadn't read them all. So my only issue with the story is that I think it could have been longer! A bit more build up, tension and exploration of the relationship as well as the sex would have made this story even better.

So Hot!

This is my first audiobook narrated by Greg Boudreaux, but it certainly won't be my last! I'm a huge fan of Sylvia Violet - her books are sweet and scorching hot, and Painfully Attractive is a great example. This book explores some pretty hardcore S/M and pain play, while still developing a strong romantic bond between the protagonists. Boudreaux's narration is amazing. He sets a great pace, is clear, and brings a lot of emotion to the story. He has a great range, and I loved the urgency he expresses during some of the hotter scenes. This is definitely a case where the narration adds to a lot of depth to the novel. I thoroughly enjoyed all of it!

Steamy, angsty story

This is a steamy, angsty BDSM, age gap story. I only gave the story 4 stars because I really wasn't into the needle play, but the romance and the great care that Leo showed Wren bouyed it to 5 stars overall. I also liked the protectiveness of Wren's family and friends, even if they didn't always support his right to do what he wanted right away. If you like needle play, you will probably love this story, but the thought of needles made me queasy. Spanking and bondage doesn't bother me, but breath and needle play turn me off. It's my own fault for not reading the description better.

The narration by Greg Boudreaux was great. He is one of my favorite narrators. Great voices, very emotive, and natural pacing and delivery.

I received a free copy of this audiobook at my request and am voluntarily leaving this honest review.

When you crave pain

Being someone who is curious about pain is hard enough, but finding someone to help you explore that kink is a whole other thing. It’s a treacherous journey to undertake and not for the faint of heart. But there’s something internally in these people that craves the connection, the intimacy. Having someone inflict pain is a transcendent experience and, needless to say, being with the right person is critical. Trust has to be there and even if the person has been vetted thoroughly, there’s a risk.

Wren, unfortunately, finds this out the hard way. One bad hook-up and he’s almost ready to give up on his dream of meeting the right man who will teach him about pain. Wren’s friend calls Leo to take care of the young man after the bad encounter and Leo is happy to help. He’s been in the lifestyle for years, even owning two kink clubs. If there’s anyone who knows about bad scenes, it’d be him. He can also recognize ‘new blood’ and Wren fits that description perfectly – wanting to learn but not knowing how to negotiate. Leo reluctantly takes on the role of mentor, but soon he finds himself desiring to be the one to introduce Wren to pain. The one to show the young man how good pain can feel.

Now there’s just one little problem – Leo and Wren’s father are best friends. It’s complicated, but Leo doesn’t know Wren’s true identity and when the young man finally owns up…? Well, let’s just say it doesn’t go well. But the pull is strong and sometimes feelings override common sense. Leo doesn’t want anyone else to show Wren and Wren has bonded to Leo as can happen after intense scenes.

I love how openly this book addresses pain play. Even within the kink community, there are those who look down upon it. Who don’t understand it. For those of us involved, it truly is transcendent. Most people will never understand and I don’t have enough time to try to put it into words, but subspace is an amazing place and needless to say, I wanted Wren to have a happy, albeit painful, ending.

Greg Boudreaux narrated this story and he’s always one of my favorites. He nailed the older Leo perfectly while giving Wren a younger but no less mature voice. Silvia and Greg are a good combination and I’m so glad I listened to this book. I own the first three books in the series and plan to go back to listen to them, but this book works well as a stand alone and I can definitely recommend it.

Simply wonderful

This is where we get to see Leo meet his love. Like all beautiful stories the path to true love is never smooth. Leo falls for Wren, his best friend's son. This dilemma was handled wonderfully by Silvia Violet without angst and drama. Ruffled feathers were smoothed giving a happy for now ending. I loved revisiting Graham and Avery.
As always Greg Boudreaux performs the book excellently. He knows how to get into and portray the deep feelings within the story. Simply wonderful.
