About this listen

When a veterinarian and a construction worker connect, it takes mishaps, mistakes, and a Rhodesian Ridgeback named Rex to show them they're made for each other.

Dr. Carter Falon is content living a quiet life in a small town caring for his animal patients. That doesn't mean he's not looking for a distraction. After finding himself precariously wedged...naked and at the mercy of a drop-dead gorgeous construction worker, Carter hires his savior to renovate his home.

When Tanner Grady's best friend and new niece needed him, he uprooted and relocated without a second thought. His life has since been centered on work and spending time with his family, but when he comes to the rescue of a cute vet, Tanner finds he's a lot more interested in the homeowner than the house he's renovating.

light on plot

well written characters and dialogue. unfortunately there were a lot of clichés: overbearing mum with strong, silent dad; best friends are witty and unconditionally supportive. There was no creditable explanation as to the vet's personality and behaviour change - allowing bullying to continue. so, story was well written but unimaginative.

Let Me Show You how good this book is...

Light/Fun
Quick paced
Small town

A story about finding love when you aren’t looking for it.

I really enjoyed the emotional connection between MCs. Starting out with both forcing a professional relationship that grew into something much more. The author was able to place the characters in stressful and vulnerable positions without making them appear weak and allowing their fortitude to shine through.

I did however find Carter’s belief of his mother being far too much and difficult a bit confusing. It may have come from a place that most children find their parents embarrassing, but as an outsider I missed any reason why he wouldn’t want to subject other people to her. She seems like a typical over zealous cheerleading mom.

Let Me Show You had a great spice level. It had both on and off page heat, but it never felt as if it was too much or prioritised over the story. It all felt pretty natural.

I listened to the audiobooks and felt the narration was okay, but I really liked the narrators voicing the supporting characters.

Overall, I found myself pretty eager for next in the series
