Summary
Jon Brennan comes from a long line of men in uniform; all born and bred to both bleed and wear blue. His family and the majority of his co-workers support him every step of the way, so he doesn't need to hide the fact that he prefers men over women. Between the job and his larger than life, loud and rowdy half Irish, half Italian family, there isn't much time for dating, much less finding a guy who can deal with the stress and demands placed on the shoulders of an NYPD detective.
Kory White is cocky and abrasive with most people, but it is all a facade he hides behind to keep his heart safe. As a child, Kory lost his mother to an act of violence. Soon after, he and his baby sister Kassandra were separated by the system. Kassandra was immediately adopted, but Kory spent the next 10 years cycling through foster homes before moving to the Big Apple. In an effort to keep everyone at a distance, Kory has meticulously built himself an alter ego: Hayden Cox, All Cocks cockiest model.
These two strong-willed men definitely prove opposites do attract. Both are stubborn and hard headed to a fault, Kory more so than Jon. But Jon is used to being in control, the one calling the shots, and Kory fights him at every turn. Just when it seems they have found a way to navigate the unchartered territory that is love, tragedy knocks on Kory's door yet again. Volatile and strong, even in the face of adversity, both men refuse to give up on each other - or their love.

Great series
I have to say that TM Smith can write, and keep me engrossed, which is not an easy task.
If you want a book that has no hurt and past, this book isn't for you, but if you want characters with flaws and pasts and are basically in need of love and nurture, then pick this book and enjoy the whole series. We love a flawed character with a history that resembles real life, and TM Smith always has boys/men who meet this requirement. Love them.
Joel Leslie did a great job of the audio, as usual. However, I did listen to it at 1.25 on audible, which is my regular default setting.

How to Deal
As always T.M Smith knows how to weave a tale with twists and turns. Kory is an abrasive character with a troubled past. Jon Brennan is a Detective from an Irish Italian family of policemen. Not a likely pairing but it works so well, bumpy but that's what makes it interesting. The Brennan family are great, loving, accepting and crazy. Gran is wonderful. I must admit I did miss Victor at the beginning but he does make a couple of appearances.
Gran doesn't appear for much of the book and I think it's Joel Leslie's narration that makes this eccentric character so charming. His narration emphasised Jon and Kory's strength of character making Kory more likeable as his story unfolds. I have come to trust that when a book is narrated by Joel Leslie all the characters, both main and peripheral, are given the same attention to detail: which provides a more rounded listening experience.
I was given a copy of this audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

Sweet relationship story and a great narration
After listening to the first two volumes of the All Cocks series, I was really looking forward to this third volume. I think author T.M. Smith has improved a bit with each volume and I loved "How to deal". I enjoyed this volume the best so far and am looking forward to the other volumes.
Jon Brennan, like the rest of his loud-mouthed and large family, is a cop. But between a job and his crazy Italian-Irish family, there's not a lot of time to date anyone. Jon's family is delightful and you can't help but take them to your heart!
Then Jon meets Kory White on duty, who works as Hayden for All Cocks. Jon wants to get to know him better. And not Hayden, but Kory who hides behind high walls to protect himself because of his childhood experiences.
I liked John with his refreshing and direct, dominant manner from the beginning. He knows how to assert himself. I was curious about Kory, because in the last two volumes Kory was rather cocky. He became more likable to me with each page, even though he had a rather gruff demeanor at first. It was nice to watch how Jon manages to tear down Kory's walls piece by piece. Kory can also be quite different and deep inside he has a very sweet, but also vulnerable side that he rarely shows.
I liked the author's writing style, the story captivated me after a short time and I couldn't put the audiobook down. The development of their relationship is interesting and has ups and downs just like in real life. When Kory finally feels like he can enjoy some happiness, a new disaster befalls him.
This story was emotional and heartbreaking, had some twists and turns, and multi-layered protagonists.
Joel Leslie is a fantastic narrator. He manages to bring each protagonist to life in a unique and distinct way. He is also very good at portraying the characters' emotions and I love how he speaks the characters' dialects. I'm looking forward to Joel reading the other volumes as well. "How to deal" is even more fun as an audiobook!
Highly recommended!

as good as the ebook
The story is always 4 or 5 stars, because if I wouldn't like the story as ebook, I wouldn't listen to the audiobook.
The performance from the narrator is also very important for me. I can't listen to a lot, because my English as a non-native-speaker isn't so perfect to follow a whole story over hours, when the narrator speaks too fast or too sloppy. Normally I have to SEE the person, who is talking to me in English. It took me a little bit, to come into the narrator, but at the end, it worked. I only have to take a few breaks between. I'm just not yet finish with the book, but I listen enough to give a review.
PLEASE READ MY RATING SYSTEM!!!
