About this listen
"Just because one of you carries his scars on the outside, doesn't mean that the rest of you don't have them. Unbroken people don't live in a house together with their colleagues. They have lives, families. They don't take in strays."
Emily never expected to find herself on the street and looking for a place to stay. A park bench doesn't seem inviting in the depths of winter.
Her luck changes when a mysterious stranger offers her shelter. It seems too good to be true, and when she meets his other two housemates, she starts to question if he's the good Samaritan he seems to be.
Staying means things she couldn't even dream of. Going means facing the danger of the winter streets. Can she make the impossible choice? And will she make the right one?
A contemporary reverse harem set in Edinburgh, Scotland. This is the extended version of Streets of Winter, a novella previously published in the Snow and Seduction anthology. Eighteen+.
This is a full-length stand-alone novel that's part of the Defiance trilogy: three books, three women, three real-life stories. These dark contemporary reverse harem romances can be listened to individually or as part of the series. They are loosely connected by side characters and settings, but they each have a different heroine, theme, and love interests.

Intriguing
Intriguing and full of heart. The narrator captured the souls of these characters perfectly. Absolutely loved this.

Couldn't stop listening, got through it in one day
I listened to this book in one day, I just couldn't stop. Em off homeless and very defensive when offered help from Ben but when her circumstances change, she decides to takes a chance in trusting him.
Ben lives with Alistair and Luther who all work together and want to recruit Em. Their work leads to some very nail-biting situations so I had to keep listening to find out what happens!
The book is very well written. The narration was good, I struggled liking Alistair at first as I didn't like the posh accent he was given but I would have loved to hear more from Luther or Ben.

I enjoyed it!
Well, that escalated quickly, Emily was living on the streets begging for money, after an altercation she finds herself with Ben who has been watching her and offers her a job and accommodation. She goes from a homeless person to a spy type person and living with a group of men this turns into a very steamy read, this is a RH book after all, and it had many surprises.
I liked that it was set in Scotland and the characters were all likeable.

Interesting look into Edinburgh's underbelly
This Reverse Harem book is full of mystery and intrigue but overall sexiness. A tough woman who has been kicked out of her lovers apartment and into the streets finds herself homeless and alone until she meets the men that will change her lives forever.
This book was very different than the usual reverse harems. It was a bit of Spy Games and sexiness with a tinge of darkness. Set in Edinburgh, Scotland gave it a peak into the underbelly of Scottish life as our heroine fights for survival - and fight she does. She is very strong and independent but still faces a harrowing life as a homeless woman on the streets. She encounters all manners of ruffians and misadventures living on the streets of Edinburgh and becomes a survivor in the process. Luckily for her she finds herself the object of interest of a mysterious man who offers her food and shelter. We find out much later why she is so desired.
This was new to me author and I like her style of writing. The book was a little too short and I wanted the story to continue.
The narration was done by a single female narrator and was pretty good even with the varying male voices. I would however, love to see dual narration for the second book.
I hope that the second book explores more of what this first book set up and delves into the mysterious organization that the men are a part of. What I liked most about this book is it set up an unflinching look into what life is like for homeless women and often what they are forced to endure.

Wasn't What I Expected!
I'm not sure what I was expecting when I started reading this book, however, I loved what I got! In the beginning, I wasn't a fan of Emily. She was having a rough going of things, and I completely understood her mindset giving the circumstances. She was resilient and feisty. I grew to like her, but I found that I absolutely loved the men. I thought meeting the other two guys, Ben would be my favorite. However, it was Alistar who caught my attention. I would love to get an entire series on just these four characters!

James Bond x3
Emily is starving and homeless. She is skeptical about the other street people....and she should be, because she ends up in the hospital for the same reason.
Then 3 men give her the opportunity she's not only needs but wants, but it's not what she expects, and danger, but it's something she's always wanted and she'd be off the streets.
This was such a fun read by Sky MacKinnon. Kyo Sija also dida terrific job giving accents and personalities to characters

Abandoned Heart
I love a good romantic suspense. Add in steamy chemistry and I’m a goner. This is one captivating listen. Loved the chemistry between the characters and all the edge of your seat goodness. Highly recommend

Skye MacKinnon has a wonderful imagination!
The story of Em and her men was an awesome listen! Em has had a run of bad luck that has landed her on the streets. She meets Ben one night, and is wary of him. He wants to help her, but no one does that for free.. right? She gets attacked one night, and while in the hospital, Ben comes to her again and she accepts help.
What she receives in return is more than she ever thought she would have... in many ways. Ben, Luther, and Allistair are good men, they work hard to keep Em safe and to make sure she feel that way.
It’s an awesome story! Kyo Sija did well with the narration! Her accents are excellent.

A fabulous reverse harem story!
From homeless to spy is definitely a unique take on this reverse harem story. This book is an extremely well written and detailed storyline. The story is very different from the usual type of reverse harem and there is quite a lot of action to the first book in the series. I very much enjoyed listening and believe you will as well.
The narrator does a great job with the characters and voices of each character throughout the book. The narrator has a very different type of cadence which helps bring the story to life.
I absolutely recommend this book!

Abandoned Heart
Emily finds herself living on the street after leaving an abusive relationship. She gets brought in by a group of three guys. The guys work for a secret agency. They had been trying to find Emily to join their team before she started living on the street. Emily is a linguist. After moving in with the three guys she starts to enjoy their company. This is a great contemporary RH. I really enjoyed it.
