About this listen
The first novel in a provocative romance series that will captivate, exhilarate and intoxicate you like no other, perfect for those who loved the bestselling Fifty Shades of Grey but were left wanting more...
It started with a spark...Everything changed when I met Dominic. My heart had just been broken, split into jagged fragments that can jigsaw together to make me look enough like a normal, happy person. Dominic has shown me a kind of abandonment I've never known before. He takes me down a path of pure pleasure, but of pain, too - his love offers me both lightness and dark. And where he leads me, I have no choice but to follow.
Deeply intense and romantic, provocative and sensual, Fire After Dark will take you to a place where love and sex are liberated from their limits. Fans of E. L. James and Sylvia Day will find themselves kept awake late into the night with Fire After Dark...

Another unhealthy depiction of BDSM.
Firstly, the author needed a thesaurus, and either a dictionary or reference guide, for which instruments were being used at to punish our pathetically naïve protagonist, and her rote, arrogant love interest. In fact, every major character in this book is self-serving and unlikable, save the gallery owner.
Sadly, that isn't even its greatest flaw. Beth is awkward and quite unremarkable, which leaves the imaginatively named Dom to impress us... I'll pause here, in case anyone didn't catch the sarcasm... Unfortunately, our supposedly experienced handsome devil has never heard of aftercare. Which, for those reading who may be uninitiated, is a fundamental practice of BDSM. Especially when introducing someone new to the lifestyle!
There were a few nicely put together passages, and the narrator did a decent job with what she had to work with, giving each character a fairly distinct voice, and emphasizing their emotions well enough, but I wasn't thrilled at any point. In fairness, though, that was mostly due to the painfully mediocre writing.

Wow I suprisingly enjoyed this!
Wow I suprisingly enjoyed this. The story shows the real worries about starting a sub/dom relationship. I really felt for her after the scenes, there was no after care. I cried because I felt it. Looking forward to the next book.

Ok
Not a bad read but far too predictable and far too similar to 50 Shades. Bandwagon springs to mind
