About this listen

Up until he buys an old truck, Elijah Morgan lives life according to his family's plan, never feeling like he belongs. Desperate to find his own path, he heads out on the open road, only to end up stranded in Nebraska. Not wanting to ask for his parents' help, he takes a job with tough, independent farmer Chase McKenzie.

Despite their age gap, the attraction between Chase and Elijah soon becomes undeniable. They give in to their desire, but that night changes everything and threatens the secret Chase guards so carefully. As the summer heats up, so does their relationship. When autumn arrives, Elijah is due back at college, and he'll have to choose whether to continue his education and follow in his family's footsteps or to stay in Nebraska with the man he loves.

Story and narrator 1, audio quality 0

As far as this audio book is concerned, the narrator Hugh Bradley does quite a good job with both voices. Elijah is obviously the main character, and the story is told from his POV. The reason I've docked 1/2 a star is the quality of the audio, which was average to say the least... the volume in particular kept softening and just when I'd turn it up, went back to normal volume again [and no, it's not my audio equipment, every other book I've got is fine], but Mr Bradley, I would definitely listen to again.

I read the book 3 years ago, and absolutely loved it. It was a delight to read, and got 5 stars all the way. First love, second chances and chock full of feels; however, this audio book gets 4.5 stars. This story was sensual, tender, heartwarming and touching.... you will need tissues Ladies and Gents!!

From my 3 year old review of the book ''For me, this book was all about feelings and emotions. I've written so many pages of notes, but when it comes down to it, LOVE is the overwhelming theme. Elijah's beautiful first-time love for Chase, Chase's everlasting love for Owen, his dead husband...and of course, Elijah's absolute determination to prove to Chase that he was worth loving and that Chase should give his heart another chance.''

Elijah, the 19 year old who felt as though he didn't fit in anywhere, saddled with rich, uncaring, know-it-all parents. He took off one day from Harvard in the old truck he'd just bought and drove as far as the truck would take him before it 'died'...which just happened to be Nebraska. Funds for the repair were tight and he spotted a 'wanted' ad for a farm hand up on the noticeboard of the garage where the truck was being kept....which is where Chase enters the story. Chase...I both loved and hated him. Hated that (view spoiler)...well, I'll leave you to read the story, it's well worth your while (and money, hehe). Eli, I loved to bits.
