Summary
There’s only one thing he can do to protect her desire and her reputation...marry her.
Daisy Lenox has always felt invisible next her beautiful and vivacious sisters. But the new town doctor, Ethan James, changes all that. He watches her with an intensity she can’t deny. He’s the first to encourage her and the first to offer a stern reprimand when she needs it.
Doctor James has a secret...until Daisy Lenox follows him and learns the truth - nearly getting herself killed in the process. While caring for Daisy, Ethan is determined that she never takes such a chance with her life again.
This book was previously published as Daisy in the Wildflower Brides series.

Quick and steamy
A quick and sexy old west erotica.
Typical of me to jump into a series at book 4 but I enjoyed Daisy’s and Ethan’s story.
I didn’t expect the good doc to have a light Dom kink but it worked- let’s face it, Daisy clearly needed a guiding hand ;)
I did expect maybe a little more at the ending- like her becoming a nurse or apprentice but as with fast paced novellas it could be in the unwritten future- just that extra would’ve made this a 4 star.

Almost unbearable as a listening experience if you get hung up on correct pronunciation
The narrator (Kylie Stewart) seems to be very young. She reads words she clearly has never used before. Rather than this being endearing in an innocent character, it has nothing to do with the character, who, we are informed reads science journals and is meant to be more intelligent and less frivolous than her female contemporaries. If you’re going to set a story in the 19th century, where people, on the whole, used a far more complex English, at least get a narrator with a command of the language! This is the highest count of incorrectly pronounced words I have counted in a 3 hour space of time in all the audiobooks I have ever heard in my 53 years! Mercantile is used 12 excruciating times and is pronounced mur-CAN-teel rather than mer-can-TILE. ‘Met’ out punishment rather than mete out punishment, ‘assessable’ rather than accessible, ‘impendiment’ rather than impediment, ‘inexonerable’ rather than inexorable…. The list goes on.
The book itself is excellent, if you are into a steamy tale with bdsm overtones. Very well written. Believable characters and story.
Read it rather than listen to it, would be my advice. It would have helped greatly to have a male narrator reading the male parts. As it was, I honestly don’t know why this successful author (Vanessa Vale) tolerates this narrator for every book.
