Summary

When I wake up on the ice planet, I'm scared of everything: This place is cold, silent, and the locals look more like blue devils than aliens. To make matters worse, one of the strangers decides I'm going to be his girlfriend and kidnaps me away from my sister.

I'm completely and utterly alone. What's a girl to do?

Well, this girl escapes. Of course, that means I go from frying pan into the fire, and my situation gets even more dangerous.

Just when I have no hope left, a new hero appears. Sure, he's blue, horned, and has a tail. He's also fierce, protective, makes me purr...and thinks I'm perfect. But is what we have real or just a mating instinct?

Contains mature themes.

Another one down and still enjoying this series.

I really love this series. The plot of this particular story definitely adds to the overall narrative and gives lots of possibilities of what more is to come

A deaf FMC survives the icy tundra with alien bf

Lila and Maddie (sisters) are the sole survivors of Kira's crashed ship. Lila struggles to adapt to the ice planet because her ocular implant was removed and is deaf. Unable to hear, Hassen kidnaps her. He is desperate for resonance. Rokan is beside himself and goes off to find her. When he does, they resonate for each other. With communication between down to charades and unable to explain what is happening. However, Rokan teaches her survival skills and to speak in sign language.
I truly enjoy reading about the blue aliens and their mates on Not-Hoth. They are possessive, supportive, and kind. Lila is a fierce character who believes herself lacking strength as her sister always looked after her. However, Lila with Rokan helps she finds confidence and survives the icy tundra.
Big thumbs up on audio and read. A definite recommend.

A memorable one in a great series

These narrators are so good — they know just how to make a funny line actually funny, but can also nail the more emotional parts. I’m loving this series!

Five starts and I'll tell you exactly why!

I've lost counts of how many books from this author I've listened to so far and I am always amazed of how much I'm involved in her stories, even the ones I thought inspired me less.
I tried to read other books along the same themes (dragon men and alien romance) from other authors and after a chapter I was ready to puke. I wondered why that was and decided that there is something that sets Ruby apart: she and her stories don't take themselves too seriously. This doesn't mean that the drama is not palpable, Ruby explores interesting and horrifying situations without blinking an eye. What I mean is that her stories are meant to be a moment of blissful fantasy and nothing more, that's the beauty of it. She's not trying to break the Earth open, everything is natural. Also, I'd like to compare reading her books to a foot massage. Amazing!
The reading experience is involving, every time I felt as if I was there. How do you do it, Ruby?
Often I read/listen to a book and feel as I want to throw my phone/volume away because the story is overall contrived and the main characters come across as lame douchebags, the female leads whiny and the males just...turds.
Nothing of that has happened so far with this series. All characters were well framed, with a good balance of flaws and merits and all relatable. I could imagine that person being right next to me, even the blue ones.
Maybe this is not for you or maybe it is. No matter your taste for a specific genre, this author nailed it for hers. Well paced and comprehensible, the language and the narration are well used for their purpose. There's no rushed or dragged moments and although there were few tropes here and there they were masterfully adjusted and nothing felt as if it was forced into place. It was all...natural, as I mentioned before.
A TINY SPOILER HERE! :)

This book has ticked all the boxes for me. Once again, I was involved from beginning to end and I am very pleased. What I really appreciated is that Layla didn't regain her hearing at the end and the author left it open and stressed the fact that the disability wasn't a disability but a unique feature that makes the character truly herself, something that has shaped her journey in a special way and in Rokhon's eyes (not sure about the spelling) she is perfect. Now, that is just beautiful. Throughout the book the fact that she was deaf was something that fascinated me. I actually feel like learning the sign language myself now, I pondered about the fact that I'd like to do that as I listened to the story.
Maybe in her simplicity Ruby has managed to shoot the arrow and hit dead centre. For this, I applaud the author for her cunning, willing or not, to stimulate my interest for something that I never thought about.
Well done Rubes, I actually am spending all my credits on you and I am positive that's a good way to use them.
Looking forward to read the next book!

Great

This was a great story. I’ve read loads of this world and have enjoyed them all. But this is particularly a cracker. Very well narrated.
