About this listen

Adam Kingsley reigns as the young prince of Manhattan. Everything he touches turns to gold, making him the envy of Wall Street. Women swoon at his feet, money is no object, and his killer good looks are as wicked as sin. A dangerous trifecta that allows him to possess anything or anyone he desires. What more could a 32-year-old man wish for? Maybe that his life never changes and his murky past stays far away. Sounds reasonable, yet life seldom is. Kathryn Delcour is an alluring socialite with unique erotic tastes who helps others find true sexual fulfillment. When she suddenly appears on the New York City social scene, Adam finds this complex woman too tempting to resist. He will stop at nothing to have her, yet she is warned to stay away from him and his player ways. Kathryn tries to keep him at arm's length, but her arms may not be strong enough to hold the charismatic Adam Kingsley at bay.

Eve's Pudding with added spice

A tantalizing premise, to scorn the apple of everyone's eye. This intelligent strong teacher sets her standards and is not afraid to berate such males who feel the need to flaunt themselves, their poor behaviour and their "wares". He just gives her the pip.

Through most of the book, we wonder if she will succumb, or will she be able to coax better behaviour out of him with herself as bait. Events before their meeting soon ensure their enforced proximity when sheltering from an assassin. Adam is a hunter who enjoys short and guaranteed hunts, so he treats prey who just give up the goods as irrelevant vessels for his needs. What could've been a more interesting chase is short circuited when she soon takes him into her harem tent. Harem actually means forbidden. Nothing was forbidden sadly and whilst there is emotion and passion, I wondered if this would become just another boring porn-fest. Is restraint so old-fashioned? Although one hopes the tantra teacher will teach tantra and not become another discarded sexual statistic. You have to get Book 2 to find out.

I enjoyed the story mostly from the atmosphere generated by the narrator, and looked forward to Book 2.

Christian Fox's narration is super sensuous, so full of inflexion, drama and charm. (His reading of Unexplicably Yours is masterful).
