Great small town romance

I loved the small town we've been introduced to in this story and cannot wait to meet more of its citizens and visitors and learn their stories. Casey and Dev are wonderful characters and watching them find their footing and figure out how to live their lives on their own terms, serve the town and build a relationship with each other made for a great story with a perfect HEA. Greg Boudreaux as always becomes all the characters in the book and lets us get to know them inside and out with his performance.

Fantastic Story & Listen🎧A Heartwarming Delight!

This fabulous small-town romance is the first book of E.J. Russell’s new “Saving Home” series and what a wonderful start it is. I even loved the blurb, the foolproof recipe for personal redemption and perfect love and all the rest describe the book completely. I adored the two lead characters, Casey and Dev, some of the secondary characters are pretty amazing too, including R.S. the mystical ginger cat. Casey’s dad was a renowned and award-winning chef and his uncle wants him to follow his late father’s footsteps and bring back his restaurant and famous dishes. Despite practically growing up in kitchens, Casey is the worst cook ever, but that did not stop his uncle from enrolling him in cooking classes, but after getting thrown out of them all his uncle finds a school for him to attend in Home, Vermont. Dev is a rock star, but he left his band and his ex and returned to Home after a tragic accident took the lives of his family. He inherited the Harrison House and the town manager position, and he is struggling with keeping up with the books and finances. Casey’s uncle enrolled him in the Summer Kitchen cooking class for three months and is staying at Harrison House. The chemistry between Dev and Casey was electric, and I enjoyed watching them get to know each other. There is a hiccup in their budding relationship when Bradley comes to visit, making demands and stirring up trouble for them and the town. I loved how everything played out in this book, the writing, plot and world building are fantastic, as are the character growth and development. The story is captivating from start to end and has the perfect balance of drama, charm, humor, heartfelt emotions and a slow burn but worth the wait romance. E.J. Russell, thank you for another wonderful story and emotional rollercoaster ride.

🎧📚🎧 Greg Boudreaux is a wonderfully talented voice artist, and he did an amazing job bringing the characters and story to life, from the pages to your ears. His character voices are fitting and I loved how he took each role and made it his own, sounding believable and just as I imagined the characters would sound. He set the perfect tone for the story, captured all the characters’ emotions and has you feeling every single one. Great Boudreaux is an entertaining storyteller and his performance elevates the story to another level. Thank you for another exceptional listen.

I loved every minute

This was so sweet and comforting and the way the characters worked together to save the town and took care of each other was absolutely heartwarming. I adored Dev and Casey, the two main characters. They fit so well together and had wonderful chemistry. I connected with them instantly, I was fully invested in their story, not just the romance but also in their lives. I wanted them to grow and succeed and be happy. The side characters were amazing too and I hope they will get their own stories.
The narrator was fantastic. I loved how he voiced the characters. He really brought this wonderful book to life.

Gorgeous heartwarming story

Argh, why did this have to end? I don't want to leave Home.
I loved this book. I did a dual ebook/audio read but Greg Boudreaux's narration was excellent and ai found myself saving my reading time for when I could listen to the audio.
Dev is lovely, a man thrust into a role he never really wanted. His support network is excellent but he refuses to take advantage of it, determined to do everything himself. It takes Casey to make him see that it's not a weakness to accept help. Slightly hypocritical since Casey can't say no to his uncle, but his attempts to learn to cook are the things that nightmares are made of.
Apart from a blip early on the lads are pretty good at communicating and the story fairly skipped along once they got together.
Casey might not be able to cook but he can certainly save a town.

This book filled my heart with joy.

MM Fun, sweet romance

A contemporary romance, typically from EJ Russell I listen to their paranormal, so this was an enjoyable change.

The main characters, Dev and Casey, are not just well-written, but their relationship is a captivating blend of chemistry and depth.

It kept me amused throughout, as most of their books do. Great side characters.
I love how there is always a fun/comical aspect to their writing.

The narration was on point, and Greg Boudreaux was a pleasure to listen to, as always. I increased the speed, which is typical for me. I recommend the audio version all day long.

2 Men who compliment each other perfectly

Story = 4.5 as I couldn't decide whether to rate it 4 or 5 stars. I loved it but I just can't see myself rereading it, which is my requirement to rate a book 5 stars.
Narration = 5 stars

The narrator did a fantastic job. I love listening to Greg Boudreaux everytime. He has such a pleasant reading voice. He expressed all the emotions wonderfully. He seemed age appropriate for the characters and kept a gpod pace even though I did speed it up. He gave all of the characters distinct voices that suited each perfectly and really brought the story to life. It was a pleasure to listen to. He even outdid himself on the singing parts and sounded great. I personally could have done without the guitar intros, that was a bit overboard, but that's just me.

Randolph Scott stole the show

I love EJ Russell and will snag anything she writes. I was thrilled to nab her latest contemporary romance, having nothing but my intuition that it would be a good book. Good book? It was great. Truly. I laughed, I sniffed, I rolled my eyes, and I enjoyed every moment of it.

Casey’s stuck. His famous father died in the kitchen of his restaurant. Now Casey’s uncle wants to revive the restaurant in his brother’s memory. With Casey running the kitchen. The problem? Casey can’t cook. AT ALL. I felt complete solidarity with him. I only own baking trays to heat up the frozen pizza. Last time I tried to cook, I nearly set fire to the parchment paper. Who knew THAT was a thing? Casey was a character of my heart.

Dev is also struggling with a family legacy. His ancestors built the town of Home and the first-born son of every generation has helmed the town as town manager. Dev was never groomed for the role – his older brother was. Then one night his brother, as well as his grandfather died in an accident. Leaving Dev to pick up the pieces. He barely has time to grieve before he has to take over. The problem? He’s a musician who knows nothing about managing a town. Guitar riff? Sure. Port-A-Potties? Not his jam.

When Casey arrives as the student for the summer kitchen, Dev’s attracted. But hands off the student and he’s got bigger problems. Right?

Yeah, best laid plans…

Add in some meddling a-holes (some were over the top villains), feuding town members, and loving family who don’t understand, and EJ gave me the perfect romance.

And, of course, Randolph Scott (the cat) stole the show. You know what they say about kids and animals…

To make this audio perfect, Greg Boudreaux narrated the story. I’ll add that he sang an original song that was included. The music was wonderful – as was Greg. Just a lovely book best enjoyed in audio. More to come, I see, and I can’t wait.
