Summary

I guess you could say I was a damsel in distress, and he was my knight in shining armor. But more accurately, I was a girl with a lot of bad luck, and he was a guy with a lot of muscles and tattoos.

Jude "Lucky" Lucketti wasn't just a sexy, brooding construction worker. He was my own personal hero, showing up in all the right places at the right times. Like when my car broke down and I needed a ride home, and when I face-planted on the sidewalk right in front of him and had to be taken to the emergency room.

We became friends, and it didn't matter that he was 16 years older than me. We had a lot in common - like our love of old rock music and vintage fast cars and our aversion to relationships.

When he approached me with a crazy idea to help me out with my many problems, I couldn't say no.

The arrangement was supposed to be temporary. A marriage on paper and nothing else. It should've been easy, but it wasn't. Because here I am, 18 years old, still in high school, and married to a man I was never supposed to fall in love with.

We had just one rule - no kissing the bride. But we broke that rule, and it sealed our fate forever.

Contains mature themes.

Age gap romance ❤️🔥

I loved Jude’s character, he’s a true gent and so caring. Skyler has a lot of problems and carries the weight of the world on her shoulders. I don’t have any issues with age-gap romance. Both consenting adults. The story is sweet, kind and loving. Both characters deserve some happiness.
The narrators were great.
I recommend this book ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Enjoyable listen

This was a great book, and probably would have been a 5 star listen if I felt more emotionally connected by the end. Think the drama disconnected me more than it lured me in, unfortunately. Still more than worth a listen, though.

4 stars

I loved the book, was a solid 4 stars, really slow burn but it was really well written. I have to critique the narration though, I felt the girl was really fast compared to the guy.. only a small issue but it easier for the listener for them to be at a similar pace

slow burn age gap romance ..❤️ beautifully done

loved this story. narrators were 5 🌟 well done. I gave this novel 4 stars because I found the back and forth between the main characters a bit too much.. I prefer my heros and heroines strong and decisive..a bit of back and forth wont hurt but I just found it dragged in this book.. I also hated the whole bullying story line if anything it just made the age gap feel like it should matter when really I love age gap romance.. Carian Cole did a great job with the eating disorder storyline..Well researched and done sensitively.. I wish she had given us an update on that in the epilogue ... hello Asher fancy seeing you here & good to hear Tor and Kenzie are doing well..❤️

Breathtaking beautiful❤️

Fabulous narrators!

Carian Cole never stops amazing me with her storyline and her caracters. I love how caracters from other books keep showing up in new books. Lovely surprise here as well!

I love how well balanced her stories are. Age gap is difficult, and she highlights it from all points of view. She doesn't romantesize.

What made this book for me was the story of Skylar. There is so much more to people than what meets the eye.
She is so fragile and yet so strong. A true role model. So mature for her age.

The friendships❤️

The bullying at school.😪 How mean people can be, and how difficult it is for the rest of us to stand up for those bullied.
Made me think back at my own school days. What could I have done differently, to stand up for my self or others.
How encredible strong she is. Her quick comments. I just felt like giving her a warm hug and never let go.

The female boss at the store, where she has a part time job, taking a chanse with a young girl. Giving her opportunities to blossom and grow. To feel safe and cared for. Speaking up for her and being the "adult one", even if the consequence of it almost cost them their marriage.

Jude (Lucky) is just a wonderful caracter. So caring, so hard working. The way he takes care of Skylar and all her special needs, is hearthwarming. Same with his old relatives.
He has his own troubled past that has given him scars in his soul and his own reasons for wanting to help.

Both Jude and Skylar come with a lot of personal baggage. Their journey is long and difficult. Some say the book is to long - I never wanted it to end.

There is humour in this book. Especially liked their visits to his aunt and uncle.
Absolutely adored them!

This to me is a book of life lessons.
1. Never judge a person for their past.
2. Have patience and faith in people.
3. When in trouble - don't be to proud to let people step in and help you.
4.When people who are important to you or the one you love give advice, listen, but when you know their advice is based on them not knowing the whole story, don't let their advice control your desicions.
5. Communicate with the one you love. Always! Misscommunication may cost you your future.
6. Stand up and protect people, when you see them being bullied.

A beautiful love story

This was an excellent subject and it proves that the age is just a number. I love Aiden Snow’s voice 🥰💓💓💓💞

Both Desiree Ketchum and Aiden Snow were brilliant narrators and brought the story to life.

I was especially happy to see more than 40 episodes too, this is rare.

I’m looking forward to the next book by Carian Cole 😍
