Un hombre despierta en el claro de un bosque de lo que parece ser la Inglaterra medieval, sin ningún recuerdo sobre quién es, de dónde procede ni por qué está allí. Perseguido por un grupo llegado de su propia época, su única posibilidad de sobrevivir pasa por recuperar la memoria perdida, conseguir aliados entre la gente del lugar y quizás incluso confiaren sus supersticiosos alardes. Ein Mann erwacht auf einem Feld – ohne zu wissen, wer er ist, woher er kommt und warum er dort ist. Seine Umgebung wirkt wie England im Mittelalter – doch ist es das wirklich? Seine einzige Hoffnung, zu überleben: Er muss einen Reiseführer mit dem Titel "Handbuch für den genügsamen Zauberer: Überleben im mittelalterlichen England" wieder zusammensetzen, der dummerweise bei seiner Ankunft an diesem Ort in Einzelteile zerlegt wurde. Außerdem muss er seine Erinnerung wiedererlangen und Verbündete unter den Einheimischen finden, bevor ihm mysteriöse Feinde an den Kragen gehen können.

Un homme se réveille dans une clairière, amnésique, dans un pays qui ressemble énormément à l’Angleterre médiévale... Qui est-il, d’où vient-il et pourquoi a-t-il atterri ici ? Mystère. Traqué par un groupe aussi étrange que puissant, il doit, s’il veut survivre, retrouver la mémoire. C’est son seul espoir. Même s’il faut pour cela s’allier à quelques autochtones, et adopter leurs croyances et leurs superstitions. Il existe bien un guide, intitulé Manuel de Survie du Sorcier Frugal dans l’Angleterre médiévale, qui pourrait l’aider, sauf que son unique exemplaire a explosé pendant le transfert.
