About this listen
One night, one mistake, one price to pay…
A retired couple venture out for an early morning dog walk in a picturesque Lincolnshire village. The husband keeps his inner-most thoughts to himself. The wife, however, has something to tell him – a secret that is about to change their lives forever…
When DCI Freya Bloom is called to a crime scene early one Sunday morning, little does she know that the friendships she has counted on so many times will be called into question and her time in the Lincolnshire fens could be coming to an untimely end…along with her career.
The victim, a retired woman named Linda Wilson, lies at the edge of a small forest atop the Lincoln edge, a steep escarpment that runs throughout Lincolnshire. With the winter storms hammering down, the team works hard to close in on the killer before the wild landscape works against them and any evidence is washed away forever.
However, only hours into the investigation, Freya learns that not everyone who wears a police uniform is on her side – lies and allegations from corrupt police officers leave a trail for her to follow. But when the one man she can trust turns his back on her, she must face her ordeal alone while solving what is to be one of the most complex investigations of her career.
With the victim’s husband missing, the team unearth a web of lies and the terrible reality hits home – Linda Wilson wasn’t the killer’s first victim…and she won’t be the last.
Into Death’s Arms is the twelfth book in the addictive Wild Fens Murder Mystery series set in rural Lincolnshire. Fans of Jack Cartwright also enjoy books by JM Dalgliesh, Ann Cleeves, Rachel McLean, Tim Sullivan, and LJ Ross.

I have enjoyed all of Jacks books.
Apart from the story line, there is something around every corner.
Just finished Into Death's Arms and hope we will hear more about Ben and Freya.

Complex and clever
Loved this book for not just the main story but developing the relationships across the whole team. A lot of big characters are growing and taking centre stage at different times. Highly recommended and can't wait to listen to the next one!

twists and turns
I just love the whole Wild Fens Murder series, all the relationships, the Freya and Ben ongoing saga, and the descriptions of the area ensure that i visualise it all. very clever plots. the downside is I've now got a long wait for book 13!!! I also cannot imagine any of the characters with any other narrator - excellent!! highly recommend to start at book 1 but make sure you have plenty of credits, you won't want to wait for the next installment!!

Fabulous series
I have thoroughly enjoyed every book in this series. I love the way the characters have developed and built and the on/off love story. Each book has its own list of characters who bring their own blend to the intrigue and mystery. I really enjoyed the humourous thread running through the series, too. I can not wait to see how further plot lines develop.
