About this listen

The darkest secrets can be found in the coldest hearts....

When the fog clears one December morning in Lincolnshire, the body of a young woman is discovered lying facedown in a field. Murdered in cold blood, the case falls to DI Freya Bloom and her team to unearth the sequence of events and bring the deadly truth to light. A carer by day, the victim, Emma Blanch, tended to the needs of the elderly. A big heart and a gentle touch were all she needed to get by. But when Bloom learns that Emma was recently the suspect in another murder enquiry, she discovers that someone has taken the law into their own hands—and they are still tidying up loose ends.

In the tiny settlement of Wasps Nest, Bloom must dig up the past to discover who Emma Blanch really was. But one fact is clear—the truth died with Emma, and the killer will stop at nothing to have his way.

Who had more to gain from her death? Who had more to lose? And how far will the killer go until his deadly secrets are buried forever?

Set in the wild Lincolnshire fens, this British detective novel is a murder mystery with a touch of humor, a hint of romance, and a series of twists that will keep you guessing until you hear the final minute.

In Cold Blood is the astonishing third book in the brand new British crime series from USA Today best-selling author Jack Cartwright. Perfect for fans of JD Kirk, JM Dalgliesh, Rachel McClean, and Ann Cleeves.

Yet Another good Murder Mystery

yet another great mystery unravelled by the gang, really enjoying the plot twists the author gives us every time in this series so far & the humour of a certain Scottish character reminds me of characters of old that are fewer in today's world but still made me chuckle when I hear there views on the world & the people around them. enjoyed the story look forward to more & don't forget there's more gun owners in Lincolnshire than London so the murders will keep coming 😀 👍

JUST GETS BETTER !

This is a great series ! Characters - story lines- development , all excellent.
This one had me completely flummoxed ! Didn’t see it coming .
Highly recommend. No gore ( you’re told what you need to know but without gory details )
No extreme bad language either .
On to the next !

Rather addicted

Although I know it’s hard to imagine that such weird things happen on such a regular basis in the wilds of Norfolk yet somehow, I’ve become invested in the characters. Give this author a go! You will enjoy if like me you like a good murder mystery with a dollop of suppressed romance on the side !

Excellent narration, good story

This is the first book I've listened to in this series, and will definitely listen to the others. The story is well written, characters well developed. The star is the narration - each character is distinctive and perfectly represented.

jack Cartwright writes excellent crime novels

I have listened to three , now beginning the fourth. Outside world halts as I return to the 'wild fens' and Freya Bloom and her team. Good stories, excellent plots that I can't predict, beautiful descriptive writing. A hint of lustful thoughts.
However small critique. Brixham isn't in Dorset, it's South Devon, unless of course there are two towns of the same name.
