About this listen
The second book of The Dark Chronicles.
The dryads have risen up against humanity. Queen Cathryn's realm is broken, her people have scattered, and the future is uncertain.
She gives Tolucan, a newly knighted commoner, a seemingly impossible, secret quest; to seek out the sole weakness of Dark Oak, King of the Dryads, and to destroy him, whatever the cost. Even within the forest, strife threatens Dark Oak's reign, but he will not be defeated so easily.
While humanity is still on its knees, the dryad seeks dark secrets, in forgotten places, unaware that Sir Tolucan, humanity's last remaining hope, is hunting him . . .Jacob Sannox welcomes you to the Age of the Dryad.
An epic fantasy production enhanced by special effects. With music by Orchestralis, available at Orchestralis.net.

Dark Oak 2... Darker Oak
Book one was fairly dark with some truly macabre scenarios faced by the main characters. This next installment is darker still in parts although maybe not as psychologically disturbing as it's predecessor as listeners should have Sannox's measure by now. Intrigue abounds as we learn more about world in which the characters inhabit and garner further knowledge of their histories. Some questions are answered but are quickly replaced by new ones and you'll find yourself deeply invested in the hopes and dreams of the main players.
Nigel Peever once again has pulled out all the stops in this production. The soundscape he creates alongside his many and varied characterisations will truly astound you. Believe me, audiobooks don't get better than this!
Hopefully we won't have too long a wait for Book 3...

Continuation of an epic tale
The first story was truly epic and I was keen to hear the second. I think you really need to listen to them one after the other as there is little recap to remind you are characters history and appearance. Still, I enjoyed the story and found the characters interesting. The narration was brilliant as to be expected from Nigel Peever. A fantasy novel to take you to a world where myths exist and human reincarnation is more than we ever thought possible.

Another excellent book. 5 ⭐
I was given a free copy of this book and I'm leaving an honest and voluntary review.
So I waited to post book 1 Dark Oak. review as I wanted to listen to both books back to back.
This 2nd installment is just as thrilling as the 1st, book 2 flawlessly follows on, bring yet more intrigue, more breath taking excitement and much, much more.
The sound effects are perfectly suited, really setting the ambiance, it's one of those books that really draw you in.
Nigel strikes again, his talent knows no bounds.
A great serise. 👍

A New Dark Lord
Absolute great series, a new Dark Lord is on the rise, and he has sights set on ending humanity, with the humans on there knees, being forced to live with out growing or building to sustain their lives, from start to finish you are transfixed into the authors magical world, as the story goes on it gets darker and more emotional, there is alot of angry characters with vengeance in their hearts of being wronged, if you love Dryads, Sylphs, Naiads and other creatures of lore, you will definitely love this, fantastic characters and story, this is the second book in the series and its only going to get better, another fantastic narrating from Nigel Peever, the sfx and epic music will have you drooling, The Dryads sound like transformers when they speak, just absolutley brilliant, I can't recommend this series highly enough, check it out you won't regret it...😁

Excellent Fantasy Fiction
Have listened to the first two Dryad books and can’t wait for the third.
It’s the characters that make this series, they inhabit a place that seems to have the depths of a Middle Earth, but it is their flaws and their foibles that makes you want to listen on.
I was gripped from the first few minutes of the first book. Have already downloaded the Arthur series whilst I wait for book three.
